You can try to splint it by using a soda straw, bamboo skewer or other thin straight object. One guy used damp tissue to bind the plant to the stake. Wrapped it around and dampened it, then let it dry. It has the advantage of being easy to remove. I've used twist ties with success, but you have to make sure they don't injure the growing stem.

Keep the stem straight and water your baby. You're OK as long as you have some leaf nodes below the break (the seed leaves- cotyledons - won't work; it has to be real leaves). If the top dies, the lower branches will take over and you will end up with 2 "main colas".

The bugs are more of a worry. I'd get some "Garden Safe (brand) Fruit and vegetable insect spray". It killed the spider mites I had a few harvests ago. I always have a spray bottle of it around now.
