    Stem turning black

My outside plant has a section on it where the stem is turning a dark color. One of the side branches had the same dis-coloration on it and started to die.

Is this possibly a sign of mold? I don't have any pictures sadly, but it goes from a nice green, to a section of darkness....

    any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Without photos.....KL....google up stem rot and see if you can find anything similar. That's what it sounds like.

If it is you have to cut bad parts away. That's about all I know about it....sorry.

Ya it does look like this... http://www.plantsciences.ucdavis.edu...es/rpfig23.gif

The black is on a part of the main stem below the main bud area.... though this started as spots and has only now really become very noticeable.

It's been raining the past 5 days straight, temps in the 50's.

The buds are a little purple also due to the temps (: But they have a couple of weeks to go before harvest... hm

    yes
    that's a very bad mold / fungus

cut it off or down .. however you choose either way this close to harvest it's best not to leave it

it'd be the same as topping wouldn't it? I'd be faster to cut off any fungus or disease like that then to leave it and let it go to town on your plant.

OK so I should go there and try and scrape of this rot? I am down to leave it growing as long as possible even if it starts going Hermie. Other wise I will go and check it after work tomorrow after 3pm CST.

I will also bring my camera out with me this time, as I have recovered my memory card from my roommate.

Nice looking bud there. You gotta get rid of mold. You could try spraying a fungicide all over it, but if it were getting close to harvest, I would make sure it is an all organic fungicide. If this doesn't work you have to perform surgery. You cannot smoke mold or rot, it is very dangerous. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and have to trade in proper yield for some bud rot on anything I grow outdoors. You just gotta keep picking out the rot, and think about harvesting early.

It just that this plant has had these spots on it for a while.... and now its grown. I'll see what it looks like in the morning. Its been an organic grow at least (: But at the same time the buds have no rot on them, only a portion of the stem... assuming the blackness I saw was in fact rot. The buds were using the the green fan leaves on the buds as nutes so the small fan leaves will be the final. I hate this.... I really want to cry.
