    People With Crohn's

So i have crohn's disease I was diagnosed 2 years ago. After i was diagnosed I vaped out as much as i could, everyday. But since I started going to school i've found that Dank is quite hard to come by around here and it's mostly schwag. So i dont' get to smoke during the week, but on the weekends I try and find some dank.

I don't really know how to ask the question that I have brewing in my mind but I'll try the best I can.

I've read that people who have crohn's 75% of them have to have atleast 1 surgery in the lifetime. I'm wondering if those that have smoked everyday like I have ever had any surgeries. So far i haven't had any, but within the past couple of weeks my stomach hasn't been liking me to much and i think it's beucase I haven't been smoking as much as i used to. Basically If you smoke everyday as much as you can do you still go through the pain, or have had any surgeries.

I'm sorry for it being so random my question was hard to think about and type out. :s

terribly sorry for posting this in the news one I forgot I was looking at marijuana news when i decided to post.

    People With Crohn's

    Hello Jolly...

My grandfather had severe Chrohn's Disease, and had a large portion of his colon removed, as well as much of his intestines replaced with plastics. Due to complication with other diseases colliding with Chrohn's (apparently), his leg also had to be amputated. He had numerous other medical conditions, and was going through this severe pain for twenty-three years until his death. Ironically, it wasn't Chrohn's that killed him, it was something more common - a heart attack. Now, how do you think he made it over two decades of severe pain, and atleast two surgeries a year? Yes, he was a MAJOR pothead. I mean, damn, he was always smoking, and he always seemed to manage to find some good, good dank even though he could never leave the house alone. The doctors knew he smoked weed, and some of them even agreed it was helping his condition. So considering this individual had atleast two surgeries a year for two decades while being a major pothead, I'm pretty sure Cannabis is safe to use if you have Chrohn's Disease - atleast when you don't eat it. It may even improve your condition. And don't worry if your doctors don't know you smoke, if they aren't 420 friendly they can't really do anything about it, as when you see them, you see them in confidence.

Hope that little bit of info helped you out. I, myself, am a tad scared of going to check if I have anything like that, as more than one person in my family has the disease, it might turn out to be genetic...

    Good luck to you!

I don't think weed will prevent the inflammation from Crohn's. It does reduce the pain I believe. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Maybe you could grow some to get a steady supply. Take it easy.

By the way, if you live in a Medical Marijuana state (California, for example) you may request a federal MMJ card and the right to cultivate marijuana for your medical condition. I know you could easily get an MMJ card in California legitly for Chrohn's.

    People With Crohn's

I have Crohns and find that my symptoms are relieved when I do smoke. Mostly it reduces the cramping and gas. I have had Crohns since I was 14 and have had two surgeries, the first I ended up having a temporary colostomy that was supposed to be for 6 months to allow my colon to "cool off" and heal, but I didnt end up getting the reversal surgery until 2 years later. The colostomy was strange at first but after a while it got to be normal..mine flared up a few months ago so i did go to the doctor and when i asked him about smoking bud he just laughed and said yes he knew it helped so if i chose to smoke so be it. He also put me on sulfasalazine, prednisone, and protonix. I am slowly being taken off the prednisone since you cant just go cold turkey from taking it without side effects. I still smoke almost everyday but lately have been cutting back to increase the effectiveness of the bud.

(sorry for the double post, I meant to edit this into the same post but made a new post on accident)

I was wondering the same thing as you, if Cannabis could help prevent future surgeries because I haven't had any yet, and I really don't want any ever! Unfortunately it is a bit disappointing to read about a chronic user going through so much, but I'm sure it would have been much worse without marijuana!

Why do you say this? I thought consuming cannabis would be the best for Crohnies? Smoking cigs is a no no for us, so I assumed smoking marijuana wouldn't be optimal either, and consumption would be best. I was recommended by my pot doctor to make pot tea because it has healing properties to heal damaged tissue, although to be honest, I'm not sure if he really knew what he was talking about, but even without his advice I always assumed consumption is ideal for Crohn's patients. Although, ironically most pot teas require milk....which isn't friendly with my stomach, but I don't see how some brownies could hurt.

So far though, I have only smoked because I usually don't buy a lot, and it's expensive so when I do try cooking, I want to make sure I don't mess it up! If you live in a medical marijuana friendly state I highly suggest you getting on with that if you can, some strains effect me while some don't do much at all. I'm still experimenting to find what works best for me, but I have read of many Crohnies being happy with the effects from Grand Daddy Purple.

Actually the nicotene helps releive the symptoms too..i did some research on it and it will affect some people differently. For me the nicotene helps a little but not nearly as much as the bud does. On the other hand the nicotene counters the effects of the bud as far as reducing your high, which i can say is true for me. If i feel I am too high i have to fire up a square to bring me down a little bit.

As far as strains, I have heard that strawberry cough was really good for crohns but have not personally tried it.

    Hey Chong,

no it definitely will not help with the inflamation but does reduce the spasms of the colon and intestines.
