CLONE in BUBBLER, veg and flower in PROMIX??

    hey guys
im a promix user, i have no cloning experience.

ive read where an individual used a homemade bubbler and root clones with close to 100% success. he would transplant to soil and say all goes well as long as feeder roots are present.

am i setting myself up for failure by considering a hydro cloning method??

ive also seen a post where someone comented that their water roots didnt do well when transplanted in soil.

your words of wisdom are gold to me people.
any +/- feedback is welcome. thanks. :hippy:

You should be able to go from a hydro cloning device to soil with few problems. Teh first soil you put the newly-rooted clones in should be about equivalent to a seedling starting mix in terms of lightness and tilth. Scoop it in over the roots in the pot very very gently and then 'water in' the transplant with tepid water.

You may also want to consider using a plug cloning system such as the one I describe in the link in my signature- it's in there SOMEWHERE... startup costs are VERY low, just a sack of rapidrooters and a bottle of dip-n-grow, a propagation tray, and a dome.

This is the same dilemma im dealing with. I built a bubble cloner and my C99 clones have rooted with 100% success but i need to put them in soil because my ph meter is broken and i dont want to transfer them into 5 gal bubblers and have them all die on me. So i decided i'd put them into soil but im not sure if they'll survive. ProGro told me that his always survive when he puts them in his Coco/Perlite mix, so i dont see why they couldnt survive in a potting mix. I'm gonna give them a try one at a time, that way if the first doesnt survive i wont have to kill the others trying to get them to grow in soil.

Overall though going with the bubble cloner is a good idea. This was my first time cloning and i got 100 % success, no rooting hormone, no humidity domes, just fresh water and alot of DO in the water and your on your way to seeing roots in as little as 5 days.

im guessing things should be ok.
from bubbler, to 32oz cups. 50% promix, 50% perlite,

gds stonerboy- good idea about trying one at a time. i already got aquarium equiptment sitting around so i figure i cant go wrong.

hmexicande- thanks for sharing, cute little family you got there.

im not gona get a chance to try this for a while, it would be cool if u let me know how things go. g'luck all.

My mix is 3/4 promix bx, 1/4 vermiculite & some dolomite. Works for all stages for me.
The trick to success as I found it was, giving the transplanted clones a humidity dome for about 2 days(very little actual time under the dome). Like with any transplanting, Damage occurs no matter how careful you are. Light damage is very common.
I also am sure I have good root structure before moving them.
Some of my strains develop fat roots and some stringy.
I lost a couple before I started using the dome for a couple days.
