Has anyone posting on these boards been investigated and or IP traced or busted due to anything cops read on these boards?

I know of cops that read people's myspace pages looking for hints of cannabis use or other illegal activities... they use it as probable cause to conduct a search.....

Someone else suggested a proxy server, but apparently the free ones do not last long.

I am a bit worried now

I've never heard about the myspace thing... If it set it to private can they still find ways of looking at my stuff? And does that mean they read my messages too?

I really wouldnt worry about it. We could all be lying out of our asses for all they know. And if they bust up in my house and don't find anything then im gona fucking sue their asses.

The only thing id worry is if I posted pics of a huge grow op saying that YEAH! Its at my house!! Tehe!

Then id be worried.

Put a little thing at the bottom of your signature saying like "all posts under this user name are purely for role playing purposes" Im not sure if this works through some weird fucked up legal loophole im not sure, but its worth a try.

Millions of people use the internet with illegal attachments everyday, I just hope I'm not one of them that gets looked into.
I heard it was 1 in every 100,000 people get busted for downloading copyrighted material, but I suspect it's at an even higher rate, like 1 in every 250,000+.

just use a proxy. one of the easiest i have found is schoolboredom.com. It has been around for a while and probably is not going anywhere.

I never have anything at home anyway, and they can't arrest based on that...I'm sure my lawyer would love for them to bust into my house based on something I said online in a forum...he would have the judge laughing his ass off at them for trying.

This is a good discussion and I think it deserves a bump.

I don't have anything to worry about personally but I would use discretion in posting pictures of grows on here. It just seems risky to me. For that reason I won't do it. That is just my opinion and it doesn't relate to others. Other people feel comfortable posting pics of their plants up and etc. I don't think I would be comfortable doing it.

The cardinal rule to not getting yourself into trouble for anything Is not to do anything illegal.

However, if you must bend the rules (in this case: grow) then don't tell anyone about it and don't broadcast your actions or intentions on the internet. I think those things would keep one from getting caught.

lol, I highly doubt you're going to get the government taking down ip/isp logs of ip access to this website...we're just pot smokers, there's at least 10-15 million pot smokers in america..

if they want to locate you, they can do that easily...the government has backdoors all over the internet, as do credit card fraud operations...There's no way to hide yourself on the internet, at least from big brother...That is, unless you're a really good hacker but it's still a very difficult thing to do..
