    pH meter - prices

What is the cheapest, most reliable pH tester other than litmus paper. I want something I can use until I can afford a $200+ tester (in about 2 months).

I use Kroger brand Distilled water, and I'm pretty sure the pH is around 5-5.5 from how my plants are acting.

Try the "checker" by Hanna. It's around US$30. Mine lasted about eight months. ...not very long but it's a good, "It'll do until I can afford better" tester.

For about $7 you can get a small bottle of liquid indicator. For $12 you can get a lifetime supply, lol.
IMHO it's a better value than a Hanna meter... those are as cheesy as a pound of individually wrapped yellow American slices....

Personally, I don't know how much cheese is really in those slices

I ended up getting the liquid indicator, and good thing too. Turns out, the distilled water I got from krogers was horribly off what it should have been. I tested four 1-gallon jugs, and 3 tested at 5.0. One was at 4.0.....I'm glad that got taken care of. My plants are too!
