I've always wanted to try this but never did but I am now. These three little ladies will grow only one main cola each. They will be cut each time the internode stretches away from the main stem. ( see pic 2 ) Tieing them down would probably be a good idea so the cola can grow thick. We shall see.

Time for another cut. Cutting off the big fan leaves before they are replaced with newer fan leaves should not be done. So I will wait to cut the next set of internodes until then.

you're cutting away leaves that the plant uses to sustain itself, both with light and stored nutrients ... plus, the possibility of stress-related problems ... I know it has been done, (was a fad a few years ago), but see no good reason for it ... good luck, but, kids, "don't try this at home" ... :smokin:

Maybe you should just cut the internodal growth but leave the fan leaves there. I'm currently doing this only because i'm getting as many cuttings from the c99 mom as possible. But i'm leaving her to flower one main cola, so i'm not taking the fan leaves off only this shoots.

Plants need leaves to develop properly. Otherwise mother nature would have left them out.

I am going to definately put this in the back of my head for the next time I decide to try this.

Air pump to what went out? Do you mean that your fan went out and the plants got heat stressed? Or did an air pump for reservoir aeration went out, and the nutrients were stagnant? (I can't tell if those plants are in soil.) Whichever it is those plants look fried. If it's not heat stress I highly recommend flushing those plants well, then starting again with about half the nutrients you are using now.
Also I think you could do what you are trying, and still leave the fan leaves on the plants. The plants would probably be much more healthy, and you can always cut them off at harvest and nobody would know the difference.
Looking forward to the end result.

I totally agree with leaving the fan leaves on.
I too am looking forward to the end result!

I'm thinking that the burning is from over-doing the nutrients, and not from the air pump going out.
