    noob ph question

    hey guys, gotta question here..

so if I wanted to raise ph levels of my soil.. could i use some ph/alkalinity up for spas. The ingredient is "sodium hydrogen carbonate"

Could i just mix this into my water in very small amounts to make the soil less acidic..

i think another name they use for it is "soda ash"

ok i might try that, but it still doesnt answer my question.. you see, i already have a whole bottle of this ph/alkalinity up, and i wanted to know if it is safe to use on plants.

nobody seems to have an answer.. maybe this isnt such a noob question after all...

    noob ph question

I didn't look too far into it, but isn't sodium hydrogen carbonate just a synonym for sodium bicarbonate? If so, there shouldn't be a problem adding that to your water...as it's basically the same thing as baking soda. People have used baking soda for ages to raise the pH level of water in fishtanks. It certainly doesn't harm fish, so I see no reason why it would harm your plants.

    Hope that helps.:rastasmoke:

    noob ph question

the thing about baking soda is it has lots of salts which are bad for the plant

idk about the other, but to raise the ph in soil hydrated lime is the best and a bag is about $2
