Preparing for first cabinet scrog...
Hey all, Im new here and have been just doing research up to this point. I have designed a cabinet that I am going to try and do a scrog in. I have most of the cabinet figured out but I still have some questions for anyone that has done a scrog before.
I am hoping I have enough space in the lower chamber for the clone section of my closet. I have 8 inches of room in the lower chamber and I am worried I don't have room to grow clones large enough that they will be ready to move to the flowering (upper) chamber. This is assuming 2-3 in of that will be for the floros.
I also am going to try and do this without a mother. I have read a few posts on taking flowering clones and I'm not sure if it is a smart thing to do. I'm thinking I can just take clones 7-14 days into flowering then move them to the lower clone area and hopefully they will be ready to go back to the flowering room for 2-3 weeks of veg before I put them into flowering cycles.
I have the option of building the cabinet a few inches taller if need be but really need to keep the height down.
What is the better method of hydro for this system? Ebb and flow, or Drip and mist with net pots?
I have never grown before, but I have been doing about a month of reading, and I feel pretty confident in the life cycle of the plant. I'm open to any and all suggestions.thex420 Reviewed by thex420 on . Preparing for first cabinet scrog... Hey all, Im new here and have been just doing research up to this point. As long as after the lighting you've got atleast 4-5 inches between medium and light, you should be fine. The clips can actually touch the typical tube, without burning.

Sorry for confusing you, I confuse myself quite a bit.
I have read that you can take clippings from a flowering plant and use them as clones. So what I planned on doing was raising my first plants from seed, vegging them until the screen is full, then flowering them. Once they are flowering for around 7-14 days, I am going to take clones from the flowering plant (I am going to have to do trimming on them anyway to keep branches under the screen back) These clones I am going to put in my lower chamber and veg them. Hopefully after I harvest, the clones will be ready to be placed in the now empty flowering chamber, and then veg'ed until the screen is again full. At this point, I flower them and repeat the whole process.
Does taking clones from clones present any kind of problem?
Is there anything else wrong with this method?

(jorge cervants)one of the most popular marijuana growers said that thaking clones from clones is not bad they just will producer alittle less bud.But other that that i would do it because it saves time rather then growing from seed all over again. He also says that cloning from flower plants can be done it just wll be alot harder and will stress the plant it was takin from and retard its flowering ability.if taking clones from a flowering plant it would be best taking cuttings from the lower branches were more hormones are.Make sure to feed nothing but water to clones and cut there leaves in half.

-heat mat, humidty dome will help under 24 hrs on 64000 cfl light.
-if strain is difficult to clone water the plant for a strait week before taking a cutting. This will help the weak clone concentrate on rooting rather than feeding off of nutes which are not needed.
-cut quickly and put clone in a glass of water to prevent air bubbles getting in the plant

So, you plant your seeds and veg them under the screen. How are you going to remove any males you might get?
Taking a clone from a flowering plants is ok, but once the clone grows roots it will want to re-veg, a process that takes 2-3 weeks.
I think you need to put a little more research into growing.

I am worried that the clones will then be too large to place into the scrog cab, at this age will i be able to bend and manipulate the plants enough to fill my screen. I will only have about 6-8 inches from my medium to the screen.
I am really limited on my space so I am trying to be as creative as I can. Flowering clones may be my only option. Thanks for the comments, keep em coming if you can... I have read as much as I can, and will still read more.. However, its difficult to read on exactly what I am trying to do.

I have only grown scrog. I love it but there are some things you should know.
Stretch is one thing. After you switch to 12/12 the plants will typically grow to 2 to 3 times the size they were before the switch. If you "fill the screen" before you switch to 12/12 you will have no room left for the new growth. Let the screen fill about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way full before you switch.
Cloning after you switch to 12/12 will work but it takes longer for them to root. The longer you go into the 12/12 before taking cuttings the longer the process will take. And the lower the success rate seems to be. I would try to get cuttings no later than 10 days or so into 12/12. (2 or 3 days would be even better)
I have sometimes had to take clones of clones to delay the time process because my flower chamber was not yet harvested. Don't worry about all that "decrease in yeild or potenecy" stuff you read about.
Check out the "Barrel of Green" method of scrogging, it has the most potential for maximum production in a small space.

So taking them 10 days in leaves me 50 days left before the cab is clear again. If it takes the clones a good two weeks to root, I still have 36 days of veg in the bubbler...
If I use a low watt floro and pure water in the bubbler will this slow the growth of the clones enough that they wont be too large to bend into my scrog ?
Are there any nutrients or techniques that will slow the growth of the clones...
Would topping the clones a few times be helpful ?
