Nathaniel Brooks stole a line from an old Western movie to capture a pair of burglars.

A Fort Bend County homeowner fought back when he found burglars in his home.

â??You know there's something about when you hear a pump shotgun click,â?� said Nathaniel Brooks. â??It makes everybody think twice.â?�

And the two burglars did think twice.

â??You are trying to steal something out of my garage,â?� Brooks recalled telling the robbers. â??You in my garage so you have no rights now. This is my house.â?�

He saw them through his back door rummaging through his garage.

â??And I walked out of the house and I went around and confronted those guys on the side of the house,â?� he said. â??So, I aimed at him and said, â??You sneeze, you're dead man.â?? And I called the other guy out of the garage.

"I watch a lot of movies it sounded like a good thing to say. It got his attention."

Brooks held them at attention until deputies got there two minutes later.

â??I feel like I reacted like every homeowner should react,â?� said Brooks.

Deputies have praised Nathaniel for what he did, said he is well within his rights to do what he did. But they also say he helped them catch someone who has done this many, many times before.

The suspects are Brian Bostic and Richard Holly. Deputies say this isn't Bostic's first time to be arrested for a break in.

Meanwhile, Brooks has the praise of his neighbors.

"I think it's fabulous I wish more people would do it,â?� said neighbor Charlotte Priest. "I don't blame him. I'd do the same thing myself."

Even Brooks own wife said in 20 years of marriage she had never heard this tough talking guy before.

"And I have never seen that side of him. Itâ??s like I'm a newlywed now,â?� said Vanessa Brooks.

Yes, life is good again on Cinco Park Place where burglars are reminded to listen, and think twice.

â??Don't go to my house. I wouldn't come to my house if I were you,â?� said Brooks.

Here in Washington you'd be in big trouble if he'd shot them unless you knew enough about the law to cover your as. You can't shoot someone outside your house unless he's threatened you with a weapon or made a verbal threat. So i guess you'd just have to shoot both of them to CYA

Well here in Texas,we just expanded the rights of self-defense of property--it is now legal to shoot someone trying to take yer car or other posessions,outside of the home and on yer property.

One should also be mindful of the fact that when crank-heads and crack-heads are full of dope,that it's harder to kill em,so don't have anything less than a 38 or 410 shotgun..and be prepared to do more than a double-tap too. I have 5 rounds in the tube,of my tactical 12,along with a side-saddle on the breech,with another 5 rounds and another butt-stock carrier with 5 rounds,I could take out a car full of sneak thieves. :thumbsup:

Well here in Texas,we just expanded the rights of self-defense of property--it is now legal to shoot someone trying to take yer car or other posessions,outside of the home and on yer property.

One should also be mindful of the fact that when crank-heads and crack-heads are full of dope,that it's harder to kill em,so don't have anything less than a 38 or 410 shotgun..and be prepared to do more than a double-tap too. I have a tactical Black 12 Guage pump, 00 Buck is the prefered load, just something about 9-33 caliber lead balls all going in the same direction that kinda makes a perp stop and think. I also have my sturdy springfield armory 1911 that is always loaded and ready and have a carry permit for that, my glock 9mm, and my little .380. Nevada is still the wild-wild west in some respects. we keep getting these california pussies moving in, so I don't know how long it will last, but I am armed and ready. The law is a little more ambigous in Nevada. You have to spend a few grand on an attorney here to get off for shooting someone on your property, As long as there are no witnesses, you are all right as long as you don't know him, killing someone you know is usually called murder. And damn if that aint usually the ones that cross your mind time to time,~LOL~.

I live in a trailer and we had some kids in the trailer behind me,so I reloaded my 12 with #7 to prevent over-penetration,but they are gone now so it's back to the double-ought and I even have triple-ought. How about that there 380 of yers,can ya carry it in a back-up holster on yer ankle or do ya just have a permit for the 45 ?

The thing is,when yer living in a small town or the boonies,you can't depend on anyone but yerself;so i hope that Nevada eases up on y'all some more.

Damn straight! This is why im a republican (well besides a few other things but this is really up there). Almost everyone should have a gun (of course SOME people shouldnt but in general) just for reasons like this. The NRA magazine I get monthly always has a page or two about this sort of shit. Its fabulous when people can defend themselves. This is what america was founded on.

a gun is deadly weapon and only police should have them
i dont give a fuck if someone is stealing your car u do not have the right to shoot them
i am not saying u can not defend yourself but a gun isnt the way to do it
when i was 14 i held state the state title for boxing
learn to swing a punch before you learn to use a gun
