TINCTURES
I dont know what is wrong... my 2nd attempt was the more sucessfull, and the glicerin was green... during my last attempts, the glicerin was clear, almost transparent...
Anyway, i dont know if it would be possible to heat a mixture of alcohol and glicerin at 300F, as the alcohol boils at about 170-180F (if i remember correctly)...
Today will be the decision day... i will know if the problem is with the hash oil i used. I did make some chocolate with the hash oil im using to make this tinctures. If i go high with it, the problem is with the tincture. If not, the problem was with the hash oil. So, wish me luck... :stoned:
BTW... i dont know if its very healthy to drink glicerin... anyway, the taste is pleasant enough... dont know if is because the experiments with the tinctures, but the fact is im starting to like the taste of it... MUCH more than the taste of alcohol, which i cant stand (and what makes drinking green dragon one of the hardest things to me).Coelho Reviewed by Coelho on . You should try dissolving the hash oil into coconut oil. Then you could probably get away with dropping a single drop under your tongue and letting the fatty goodness coat your mouth.

It seems a good idea... BUT... does oils are absorved into the bloodstream as well as glicerin? Ive read somewhere that glicerin is absorved well, and fast, when put under the tongue, and thats the reason why we use it to dissolve the THC. Does the oil works also?

Completly... there is glicerin in our body... its produced when we digest fats.

I knew it was already present, I just had no idea if adding more was safe. I know it's also used for skin. It was kind of ironic, right after i started reading these posts about glycerin extraction, I got in the car with my friend and she had a bottle of glycerin in the car, it says on the label that it's good for skin and chapped lips and stuff.

Found this on google, thought it might help if you didn't already know...
Glycerin pharmaceutical uses.
# Used at 10% to prevent tannins from precipitating in ethanol extracts of plants (tinctures).
# Used as a substitute for alcohol, as a solvent that will create a therapeutic herbal extraction, but is less extractive and is approximately 30% less able to be absorbed by the body. Fluid extract manufacturers often extract herbs in hot water before adding glycerin to make glycerites.[8][9][10]

Well... the chocolate worked very well... some times i had to make an effort for speak coherently... the words would be floating around, and i spoke many phrases with some words in the incorrect order... also, some times was almost impossible to control the perma-grin spreading through my face... so, the problem really is with the tincture.

TINCTURES
Well... tried it again, yesterday... This time i put the hash oil in the test tube, added about 2.5 cm3 of alcohol, mixed until the hash oil be completly dissolved, added about 1.5 cm3 of glicerin, mixed until it became homogeneous, heated only until the tar-like thing started to precipitate. When it started, i stopped the heating, and cooled it.
As the heating was much smaller than during my other attempts, most of alcohol that i added remained in the tincture. I did it purposedly, as the THC is far more soluble in alcohol than in glicerin. Also, in the only sucessfull attempt i had done until then (the 2nd one), the tincture had a lot of alcohol in it. Then, i did put it under my tongue...
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! It burned a LOT!!! The tincture was much more alcohol than anything, and i could feel it... After some 2 minutes, the burning stopped... i kept the tincture under my tongue for some 10 minutes.
After some 20 minutes, i started to feel weird... not stoned, but somewhat numb, slow... im sure this effects were due the alcohol, which also entered in my bloodstream... as i never drink, my tolerance to alcohol is null, so i could clearly percieve its effects.
Then, after about 30-40 minutes i started to feel the effects of a high creeping in... but the high only started, and never actually kicked in. I felt, again, like i would feel if i had eaten an insufficient amount of weed... i would feel weird... not sober... but not high also... it was much like the so-called sober high we get during the first days of a break...
I waited until about 1:30 hour to know if the effects would increase or not... they didnt... i only was sober-high... then i smoked a lot and went fucked... yes... smoking never ever disappointed me...
And today my undertongue is still weird. It doesnt hurt, but i feel like if it were somewhat coarse... surely due the burning by the alcohol.
Anyway... I think this time it worked well enough... im sure the amount of hash oil i did use was not enough for making me high... but i went somewhat high, what was expected.
Conclusions... using alcohol in the tincture allows more THC to be dissolved in it, and so the tincture is more effective. But its have the inconvenient of being painful to use it... So, more research is still required... mainly in how to transfer the THC from the alcohol to the glicerin.
