I'm I hearing this right? In the states can an 18 year old seriously get charged with statuatory rape for having sex with a 17 year old? What kind of insanity is that! More bizarr American legislation of human nature I suppose. Here in Canada it's all good as long as you're within 5 years of each other.

Actually Gandalf, you are closer to being right then some of the other responses in this thread. Age of consent varies from state to state and it isn't always 18. Many states the age of consent is 16 and lower and there are some states that have laws to make exceptions for say a 19 year old dating and having sex with a 17 year old for example or even if they are both under 18 or if the age difference is close. That too varies from state to state and some states even allow for other exceptions. Hell, I think some states have different ages for each gender.

Of course what is written in the lawbooks isn't always what happens in the real world though too.

think on the bright side, it could be worse. i loved a girl like that, then after she got preg. i got pusehd aside, so now i cant see my kid, and i dont have her as a girlfriend anymore.. i have moved on. just stay positive. things will go your way soon enough. who knows maybe in a few weeks, things will of seattled down with her parents and this will all be over. just be optimistic

I feel your pain bud, 4 year engagement and I was dumped, we lived together and everything 90% of the time, and she broke up with me over AIM, can you believe that? Couldent even break my heart face to face. I still Love her though and always will, still not over it but trying to move forward. Keep your head up and try to find other things to focus on. Dont go to crazy on the smoking either, i noticed when i would smoke constantly all day to try and numb the pain sometimes it would actually be a big downer. Bro thats horrible. I will tell you right now after a previous experience that the best wa to deal with a heart break is to stay busy. Go out and shoot some pool with some friends play some sports get outside and do some fun stuff....get a hobby maybe. But you will be fine it wont be to long at all before youll be happy again. Every day that you go through the sadness youll notice it gets less and less and less I promise.
