Ricky Williams, what do yall think?

As a person, Ricky Williams is as real as you'll find in professional sports. He's a flawed guy but he knows it and is done really caring about it. I kinda find that refreshing when all you normally hear from these guys is soundbites of stock answers they've been fed since highschool varsity ("well it was a team effort" "we gave 110%" "Gotta take it one game at a time".) Plus he loves Toronto and the ganja weed which doesnt hurt lol

As a football player though, Williams quit on a team that wasn't just depending on him, but was built entirely around him. He's lost any interest he had in football and at this point it couldn't be anymore obvious that its just a paycheque for him at this point. I got a little hyped when I heard he was coming to toronto and caught a cfl game for the first time in my life. Dude hardly lived up to the hype. He wasn't horrible but hardly remarkable compared to the dozens of other nfl dropouts and undrafted college players we got up here...granted the CFL game isn't a running game but you'd think someone that was putting up the kind of numbers he did in miami would make a few waves.

I can hardly hate the guy on a personal level because I can easily understand his situation: A guy gifted with amazing talent in a game he doesn't really like that much in the first place who made a mistake, ended up being liable for millions and pretty much ended up being a multimillion dollar wage-whore.

That said as a football fan, I'd hate to have him being the cornerstone of my franchise. I couldn't give two shits about the canadian football league and the argonauts but if I was a Dolphins fan, I wouldn't want this guy back even if he brought a pound of kush back with him.

Maybe he'll succeed in a limited, 3rd down type role but his days as a feature back are done.

Some very very solid points. He is definitely not like most other football players. I appreciate his openness, and he does seem like a very bright, spiritual person too. I just can't handle how he kept pissing away the chances he was given. And if he didn't want to play that'd be cool but to keep screwing up and trying to come back gets tiring.

But at this point I think he has forfeited his right to play in the NFL

But God damn he could move back in the day. You take away all the troubles and if he has stayed committed we could have been looking at another Eric Dickerson. It's a shame.

I remember watching an interview on ESPN in March or April in which Ricky Williams said he didn't need pot anymore and that it was behind him and how he was focused on returning to the NFL. To get far in his career, to dominate that much on the field, and to lose it over and over again is ridiculous. And he sucked in the CFL where he was supposed to smack everyone around.

Here's hoping he's the third string RB for some arena league team this time next year
Right on, he's a fool he had it all and decided to literally go to the middle of nowhere and smoke weed in a tent.
