Hello all, was just wondering will the title of this forum ever be aligned nicely? I hate the fact that the Canna.com logo is shoved to the left by an advert. It's a real nice slick logo and would look much better centred or extended. I know it's only a minor cosmetic thing I'm asking about but it could look so much better.

Of all the people who could suggest that, I tend to take your opinion with the most weight! You've got good design instinct.

That's one for Sundance though.

Get FireFox, and the ad-block extension, never see another advertisement for aslong as they shall live. I had to manually do the new ones as they didn't get blocked automatically, they screwed and slowed up every page I was trying to load...

Millions of Web sites have left-logo placement, Nation 1ne. That's the first place people's eyes look when they visit a Web page, at least Western readers who are accustomed to reading left to right. It also allows for a large banner ad to the right, and this is an advertising-supported site. An extended centered logo would require different vector art and not allow for the same level of advertising support up there. (I know lots of people don't care for ads, but they're a reality if you want this site to stay free to members.)
If it's any consolation, our owner is working on a site redesign right now that's going to be rolled out fairly soon. His plans may include a new logo placement, but I won't be holding my breath on that. I think the logo looks good where it is now!\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

I don't think I was clear enough, believe me I understand about picture placement and composition. I studied Media and Business, and now Graphic Design. In all subjects we were taught about peoples reading habits and what they will look at first, and how to keep my image or product in the back of their mind. I've designed flyer's, magazine covers, websites, and other bits for myself and clients. I'm not saying remove the advert, I was just talking about making it possibly neater. I can even give examples of what I mean, the Canna.com logo is in PNG format so it wouldn't need resizing because extra details can be added behind the canna logo, yet again I can give examples of this too. I was just curious of the Image alignment would be cleaned up, not the removal of ad's.

I'd say your opinion on something like this would matter just as much if not more so. I've seen your drawing skills and it's certainly something to be admired.

gee i wonder what hell choose. make less money but have a centered logo, not have a centered logo but get paid for the ad...
not exactly a tough call in my mind, plus even websites without ads usually have the logo in the top left.

I don't understand where I've said remove the ad. I've suggested moving the logo. You can still have the advert centred or aligned to the left. My idea would be to have a long banner, for the logo at the very top centred, then the advert right underneath the banner, also centred. It works the same way but looks a lot neater.

A very very very poor draft of what I mean:

Well as a graphic design major, I see what you mean. The spacing between the logo and the ad is definitely off, but it does look better off to the left versus isolated and centered like your imagining. That "long banner" would look odd at the top of the page, personally.
The logo itself is fine where it's at, honestly. It's the ad that is a little too cumbersome, but only perfectionists like ourselves tend to notice that. I'd say don't worry about this very minor detail as I doubt there will be a significant change anytime soon.
