Sweet poems guys, you have talent. I wrote this one a while back, it's about the downfall of society.


Iconoclast
help us find the difference in right and wrong,
when all our rights come undone.
help us see blue skies on a rainy day,
and celebrate all of society's decay.

It made us,
it granted us,
it saved us,
it damned us
it owns us
it rules enthroned over us.

we made it
we granted it
we saved it
we damned it
we own it
it rules enthroned over us.

how can we see, we thrash around blindly,
victims of our own stupidity,
we cut ourselves down then sublimely,
come to our senses then turn back around
and fall back down, down, down into our calamity.

Our acrid stench engulfs us,
we try to escape but it follows us.
Though its ours it repulses us,
and slowly begins to swallow us.

Wallowing around in our beautiful cesspool
shame! it's not called success you fool!
Its called sinking down into our endless muck,
now thanks to you we can never be unstuck!

Now we're stuck, and we're swimming in our guilt.
looking around at this house we've built,
"Tear it down! Burn it to the ground!" you say,
But after all your efforts, it doesn't even sway.
