I wrote an original poem today after reading 'The Voice' by Thomas Hardy. I shall post his poem first, then mine.

The Voice

Woman much missed, how you call to me, call to me,
Saying that now you are not as you were
When you had changed from the one who was all to me,
But s at first, when our day was fair.

Can it be you that I hear? Let me view you, then,
Standing as when i drew near to the town
Where you would wait for me: yes, as i knew you then,
Even to the original air-blue gown!

Or is it only the breeze, in its listlessness
Travelling across the wet mead to me here,
You being ever dissolved to existlessness
Hear no more again far or near?

Thus I; faltering forward
Leaves around me falling
Wind oozing thin through the thorn from norward,
And the woman calling.

Here's my poem:

Healing takes time

Why can emotions become just so...
Why must my mind remain in woe
Overbearing, powerful and tough
While thoughts recycle, the loss is rough

This person who has such effects
Leaves and moves on, without regrets
Pain and loss and loneliness
All on earth that i had left

Tears fell down my face that day
No one yurns to feel that way
A bench, alone, a park, at dark
Where was hope to make its mark?

Life goes by and time goes on
Good times shared, the sun that shone
Memories stay, I shall not forget
Bad days there, and then she was gone...

I wanted her back, my feelings were true
She doesn't know me, infact: 'Who are you?'
Once there was closeness, and then i felt empty
Emotions that effect me, the desires that tempt me

Healing takes time, hearts heal not in a day
I longed for contentment, again I say
I strive on to find happiness again
I continue to smile, up until then...
