Hash oil question

My bud and I are making a large batch of hash oil tomorrow. I am wondering, however, if the effects of hash oil resemble the body high that hash normally has or more of a sativa high? I'm not sure the ratio at which butane extracts thc and cbd....

Man... thats a very hard question... i think the only way to answer it properly is to try it... I make hash oil with acetone instead butane, so i cant answer it...
Anyway, if your hash oil were too indica-like, you can make it more sativa-like by isomerizing it.
Its very simple: just put the hash oil in a small glass (as small as possible... i use a test tube) with water, then put this small glass (or test tube) into a pan with water, and boil this water for some 2 hours. Add water as it were evaporating, to keep its level. Doing so most of the CBD is converted to THC.
Remember, also, to decarboxilate your weed before extracting the oil, so the amount of THC extracted will be maximum.

thanks man. could you elaborate on exactly what chemicals are converted to what. What we are doing is making hash oil, then concentrating it into a powder shake filler to make hash. This method, we are able to control the THC content directly. So itd be sweet if i could figure out exactly how much of a thc increase isomerization would yield.

Well... when you decarboxilate the weed (heating or curing properly) the THCA is converted to THC.

When you isomerize the hash oil you convert CBD to THC.

But the exact amount which is converted depends on several variables... time of heating, temperature, degree of purity... so, i think the best way is experiment (smoking, of course :stoned until you find the exact proportion CBD/THC you want.

Okay, I forgot to come back and post back.

What I did, was I made hash oil. Then I compressed it with a dry powdered shake filler. I was trying to find a new method of making a solid hash in which I could directly control THC content. Well, it worked even better than I thought. I'm not sure the exact yield, because the einstein I made it for list his scale. Anyway, I'm guessing 10 grams of very potent hash. I did not dilute it enough I guess, because one of my friends passed out after taking a hit. (Note: this is an excellent way to make hash. Buy brick or mids[thc is cheaper per unit], and use butante to extract THC. Good deal. essentially we bought 2 oz of brick for 100, made 10 grams of very potent hash, sold it for 30 a gram.) In essence, I turned a 100 dollar product into a 300 dollar product in less than 3 hours.

i actually would like to know. ive wanted to make hash/oil for a while, and i have around a 1/2 o of some mids, and i would like to make some. can you post any pics of the process and explain in detail what i should do, where i should do it, and how much it would cost (for equipment) to do this? thanks in advance, f3rr3t

coelho, ive read your method, among others, and yours is great. i was wondering about his because it seems he did his differently, and got more end product. i have a half ounce of brick/mids, and if i was to use half of it to make some oil, how much would i end up with, and would it be worth the time and effort of making it? also, what could i put it into to keep it fresh? and to keep it away from dirt and things, meaning what kind of sealed container should i use to store the oil and have it easily accessible for use later?

**Only do butane hash extraction outside.**
I made my butane hash oil in the traditional way, with a homemade pvc extractor and butane. However, I wanted to make a solid hash, because it would be easier to handle and to move. So, what I did, is I took leftover shake. Dried it out thoroughly, then ground it to a powder(keep about 10g powdered shake per QP of schwag/mids used.)
Before I did the extraction, I put about 5g of the powdered shake in the bowl that I was draining into. Then after the butane evaporates, I took everything inside. Little by little, I put the rest of the powder shake in the bowl; and in between adding them, I put the bowl of hash oil/shake in the oven at 220F. Turn the oven light on so you can watch it. The reason I heat it up is 1) to get all the hash oil stuck to the sides to drain to the bottom and 2) because the hash oil bubbles up and mixes with the shake better. Once I got the consistency to what I wanted, I took it out, and put in in the fridge to let it solidify. Then press it and bake it like normal hash.

I wish I had a camara to take pictures of the process, when I find one I'll post some pics.

The powdered shake essentially is a filler for the hash oil. You can add more or put in less depending on how strong you want it, but the less you have, the harder it will be to get it to solidify and press.

This is a new method that I pretty much pulled out of my ass and got to work (to my knowledge, Ive never heard of anyone else doin this but its possible)...but I really recommend it as the end product is very potent. Great smoke. Good deal if your smoking it or (especially) if your getting rid of it. This method pretty much takes advantage of the fact that KB is 3 times more potent than brick, but 5 times the price.

^Are you talking about wanting to make hash with a quarter of brick(by half do you mean half of your half oz or the whole half oz?). You can make it with any amount if you really wanted to, but I would say an 1-4+ounces would be much more worth it. What I mean is, it would take the same amount of time practically to make 1 oz worth as to make a pounds worth.
