Medical Grass on a Plane?
I need to take a flight soon out of California within the states (and to another state with a Medical Cannabis policy). Will it be OK to put some weed in my pack or pocket or something and if they find it show 'em my doctors recommendation/state card? It would be really beneficial if I didn't have to stop smoking for those days and I don't want to buy it off the street there.

Don't even think about doing that. The states that allow medical cannabis do so at a state-law level. It's still against federal law. And guess what type of law governs airports and interstate air travel? Yep. Federal. You carry cannabis, even medically allowed, legally dispensed-within-your-home-state cannabis, anyplace near an airport, and you'll be busted like any other criminal, only the charges you'll get will be stiffer and more harsh--and far more of an administrative and legal hassle to respond to. You'll be treated like a common criminal instead of a medical patient with a legitimate need. It's woefully unfair, but it's the reality of our federal law.
Just go without your medicine or get it at your destination. And before this thread goes in a slightly different tangent, please be aware that we do not endorse or support discussion of smuggling in any form and will delete any mentions of such actions here. Thought I'd pre-empty that before it even came up, assuming it might have.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

Nah I don't want to "smuggle" it. I just wanted to put it in my backpack/cary-along with the rest of my travel gear. Man that's a serious bummer. I thought maybe in more liberally-minded areas they'd let you by with the proper documentation, but I guess not. That means I'd have to go back on my "normal" prescription (horrible anti-depressants, etc).
Knowing our country, simply flying first class, having expensive luggage and a nice suit would probably alleviate them checking me over so thoroughly/at all.

Doesn't matter how liberal of an area you are in, airports are federally controlled and have strict laws against illegal drugs. It would be a big risk, one I would never take, if you really need it I'd suggest driving instead of flying. We wouldn't want to hear about you on the news
