Howdy DPoisen,

You could just use a potting soil mix right out of the bag,but I believe that it's best to add some perlite and vermiculite,for extra drain-age and aeration. Most potting soil mixes,come with time-released ferts,but you could make it better,by adding some manure..worm castings and bat guano,are the best-I think. As for if your starting your seeds in soil in a cup or small pot-you can just use plain potting mix,but after ya transplant into your big pots,you will want the above mix in those pots. You could also add some rock phosphorus too,probably best to do so.
