leaf problem, and i am clueless

hello there, i am yet another newbie with a sickly plant, ive read loads of these plant problem threads but havent found anything that looks quite like this, any help would be deeply apreciated.

just to warn you, im doing this very lo tech the plant is at present under a 20 watt energy saving bulb 24/7 and was planted in bagged soil. its about 5 weeks old and ive fed it once with rose ferteliser i bought in poundland. ive no idea what the ph level is, so that may well be the problem. im getting a pair of 80 watt flourescents to put it under next week one warm white and one cool white.

attached are some photos of "jessica" and one of the fertiliser i used. there are some little holes in the leaves but thoses are ok (i burnt the leaves with nutes when i fed it but i think its over that now) the problem i worried about is the inter vein pale patches and the way the leaves are buckled.

    so any ideas?

Also get some good soil.....fox farms oceans forest or something. I'm not a soil grower but it's not hard to see that plant has no root room. Look around this site and find a good soil to go with and a bigger pot.....and buy a ph meter.

ive not yet had a chance to repot my plant but will do it tommorow, im sure that will help. in the mean time the prblem with the leaves is spreading. its now effecting the bigger lower leaves as well, inbetween the veins the leaf is a paler, more yellowy green and is more translucent. is this purely down to lack of root space or what? im mostly curoius because i want to fertilise it again but am anxious not to poisen it.

thanks for the advise though fella :-]

I seriously think your problem is that your roots have run out of room and are getting squished....that's why your plant is not doing well....it's just plain rootbound. I wouldn't feed it again until you've gotten it a bigger pot.....and I don't think the plant itself will improve until you do.

    Good luck.

    Magnesium deficiency.
You can't do much to fix a deficient plant in such a tiny pot- the soil conditions fluctuate more wildly and you could be providing ample Mg but the plant may not have the conditions to uptake it due to moisture, pH, oxygen problems in the soil.
That plant needs a gallon pot of LIGHT soil. Read the sticky in my sig. You may foliar feed with a weak solution of Epsom salts (1/2 teaspoon per gallon of warm water) to keep that deficiency from getting worse until the soil conditions are changed.

i got myself some epsom salts today and gave the folage a little spray, i hope that'll keep her happy till i repot. i would have repoted her today but its pissin down (englands the best) and the garden centres a bit of a walk away.

to be honest this is going pretty well, i just stuck two old seeds someone gave me in a bit of topsoil and one of them sprouted. i wasnt expecting anything to happen, if i had know it would work i may have got a bit of equiptment before hand, and perhaps not have planted them at the onset of winter. nevermind.

i think my only real problem will be if 'jessica' turns out to be a 'james'. man ill be peeved, but i can always start again (properly next time)

ta for the advice ill let you know how i get on.
