R/O systems need to backflush and it takes some fairly decent water pressure to push the water through the filters - in either direction.
Go to the plumbing department at Lowe's or HomeDePot, tell them what you want to do and they'll sell you a valve that is easy enough to install and then you can hook the sytem up the right way.
...or you could dick around with pumps and stuff, but, why bother? It's easier to install it the right way, and it's even easier to uninstall it if you have to move.

you will need a good drain for it, too ... RO units use ten gallons of water, to filter one gallon, the rest goes down the drain ... I mounted one in an RV ... I mounted it to a board, for easy access to change out filters, as space is very limited ... works perfectly ... :smokin:

I installed mine in less than an hour, the instructions were quite easy ... it will have the filter set, a holding tank, and the sink faucet ... you won't be using your present faucet for RO water ... but, be aware, they recover slowly ... mine isnt expensive, about $170 ... it is rated for 50-gallons a day ... the holding tank holds just under a gallon, and takes a little while to refill itself ... I've never timed it, but I would guess 20-30 minutes, at least ... ??? ... so, if you're planning on getting ten gallons at a whack outta your RO unit, plan on standing around waiting a long time ... I use mine for drinking water, only ... if you use it in growing, you will have to replace the calcium, magnesium, iron, etc., etc., because it's all been filtered out ... your RO water will be acidic, since the calcium was removed, it's not the watersource of choice ... I make a 30-mile roundtrip to fill my jugs from an artesian well, instead ... :smokin:
