i heard dion recently announced that the grits no longer support decriminalization. when will the american oppression end?
oh, and re:harper, the conservatives are a bunch of alberta cowboys who are living in the 50s and are ignorant to whats really happening.
violence, organized crime, massive spending, loss of life (of police and thugs) are all a result of marijuana PROHIBITION, not marijuana
the majority of canadians are agains prohibition, but to end it would cause huge problems with the neighbor.

With my feet upon the ground, i lose myself between the sounds and open wide to suck it in, i feel it move across my skin. im reaching up and reaching out, im reaching for the random or whatever will bewilder me, whatever will bewilder me. following our will and wind, we may just go where no ones been. We\'ll ride the spiral to the end it may just go where no ones been. Tool---Lateralus

I would be raging if they imposed a similar law in amsterdam before i got to visit.

our charter of rights and freedoms took a big hit when a judge recently allowed evidence obtained in an illegal search (we are supposed to have the right to not be subject to unreasonable search and seizure)
the story is this... dudes driving from van to T.O, with a tunk full of cocaine... alberta plate (alberta only requires one plate). OPP pulls dudes over in northern ontario for only having one plate. cop discovers guy doesnt have a valid license (can ya get any dumber?) and arrests him for driving without a license. the cop still does not have the right to search the vehicle, but he does. BAM! trunk o coke.
the judge ruled that the severity of the case outweighs the personal freedoms in question. im not sure if that sets the law for all common law provinces (x-pq), or just ontario (where the case was), but that means that now illegally obtained evidence may be admissable if it outweighs personal freedom. so now your gonna have cops goin search crazy knowin if they find something big they can get it into court.
slippery slope here folks. the charter of rights and freedoms is a very important document, and i encourage all canadians to write your local mp (that what we do up here), and demand it be respected.

^ that sounds like some good advice. i would encourage all Americans, too, to get a copy of the Constitution. we all had to learn it in third grade, but it is not until we grow up that we really understand it and appreciate its simple power. it seems to me the main purpose of our constitution, as well as the Magna Carta, was to reign in man's natural instinct to consolidate power at the expense of others. it is the way we keep the "authorities" in check.
that sux, bro about that ruling up there. it is the same sht we have down here. politicians swear to uphold the law of the land, The Constitution, then they get in office and start thinking that know more that our founding fathers did. There are NO exceptions to our rights.
i was thinking i heard a Canadian Court recently uphold an earlier ruling that Canada's Prohibition of Medical Cannabis was a violation of your Charter Rights, but i can't remember the details. good luck, bros.
