    T12's or T8's

I currently got two shop lights using a pair of T12's each and a 400 watt metal halide.I'm going to add another shop light seeing how they're doing so well under them but I'm not sure if I should get one that uses T12's or T8's.If any one knows wich one "out of those two" are better than the othe for the plants please let me know, as well as the reason why if known.

I believe T8s were introduced to replace the T12s...

T8s are supposedly more efficient. The T8 produces more light per watt.

    T5s are even better!

when I used fluoros, I used T12 tubes ... I just didn't see the lumen advantage vs. dollar cost, of the T5s, etc... (at THAT time) ... prices may have evened out, by now ... check here for comparisons:
    Linear Ubend Circline
be sure to click on the details, and READ ... lots of usable info there, to be found ... :smokin:

T-8's will give you more usable light per watt.

sorry, psteve ... check the details on the link I provided, and you'll see the T12s actually are producing more lumens in the 40-watt sizes, than the T-8s .... :smokin:

Yes, but if you look closer, you'll see that the t-8's are actually running at 35W, not 40.

Go with t8's not only are they just as if not more efficient, you can fit more of them in a smaller space.

... if you divide the lumens by the watts, you will see that they both produce 90 lumens/per watt ... same ... but, your T8s are quite a bit cheaper in price

What kind of harvests are you guys getting using Flouro's? How much per plant, what kind of set-up, soil or hydro, and how big do the plants get? I've always used HPS lighting so I dont know. I use a 3 foot flouro for my clones, but thats it. I have always wondered about a whole grow using a ton of tubes.
