Amsterdam doesn't seem to have a problem with it

After all the money I've spent to pass a test for a new job as a professional who is leaving another job of 10 years (they hate to see me go). Everything has checked out with the references etc, why is the U.S.A so difficult? All I do is smoke. Alcohol has gotten me into trouble in my past when I used to drink. They have legal perscriptions that are sooo addicting and the drug co. are getting rich. Oxys are bad and lead to cheaper Heroin addiction. Drugs to keep your dick hard are OK. Is it because the Govt. won't be able to tax the local grower or people who grow their own? I hate the idea smoke is in the same catagory as hard drugs. Alcohol is the gateway (not weed) and if that leads to smoking a little, alright. But it's when the nieve kid thinks since the weed is easy to put aside and goes on to harder drugs, then they're stuck. The record should be set straight. I went to Amsterdam in Dec. and it wasn't a big deal. You smoke in the smoke shops. U.S.A. is not so free. 4th ammendment is gone and give it time people, we will loose other rights too. Tell me, what do you think?

i am definately considering moving to ontario or amsterdam one day in my lifetime. the bastards in office probably wont even consider passing a marijuana law. they barely pass medical marijuana laws. i dont think it will ever be legal in the states, but i do think there would be a better chance if all of the states would adapt MMJ.

i was going to write the same thing. Its very dumb of our government to make legal such addicting drugs.. when MJ is not legal & considered a hard drug. wtf. its a plant..! its already been shown to improve the body. unlike other medications.. but.. i can complain all day, with no result. MJ wont be legal until the government can figure out a way to profit off of the legalization.

It's not only weed though, it's loads of things. The laws are so contradictory. They dont help anyone - it's as though they're created just to cause nuisense and to piss people off.

I remember watching Americas Dumbest Criminals and they used to have these little interludes where they gave examples of stupid laws - like in some state it was illegal to eat pickled cucumbers or something like that? I mean what the fuck? WHAT THE FUCK?

There are countries that put you away for life if you smoke pot, the US laws are not as bad as you think they are. Most cops don't waste their time on marijuana busts either, it's usually just something that gets tagged on to other charges to take some scumbag off the streets. The laws vary from state to state, and in California you can have up to 28.5 grams and it's just a misdemeaner, whereas other parts of the world would put you away for life, so I don't think that is too crazy IMO.

I'm sure in other parts of the country where the Christian extremists reside things are probably much different, and their cops probably would waste time on small things like that, so if you visit stick to an area with a lot of murders and violent crimes, those cops will be too busy to mess with you :P

And I think those laws you mentioned are just outdated ones they bring up again to make a little joke, I've read things like that before and those were just outdated. You shouldn't really criticize a country if you haven't visited it yet, you can read a lot of negatives from any country, but actually going there and experiencing it first hand is much different than just reading about it.

Federal Law overrides state law, as far as i know. I'm not a pro, i dont know much about America, but i DO know that the laws are stupid, harsh and unrealistic.

LIP I live in america and i definately agree with you! Yes federal law does override state law which is why the DEA are raiding dispensaries (sp?) in California. I hate our laws and i am considering moving to canada or even amsterdam one day.

There's a general dislike for the American government, here, in England.. I think that probably stems from the whole issue with Iraq and the growing issue for Iran, but still. Our Government backs yours but our people don't. This whole planet is a fucking joke. If America made weed legal, so would England. The thing that most people don't realize is that the problem doesnt just lie with the government. It lies with the fact that people are WAY too trusting of their government. There is so much bullshit about not just weed, but everything these days. People just follow the masses. As soon as a large group of people started saying the Iraq war is ridiculous (I agree, it is,) lots of the people who initially supported it changed their opinions.

The problem lies with education. People aren't educated about these things so they believe what they see on shit like Fox and Bill O'Reilly (WHAT A FUCKING ASS HOLE)

I can guarantee, if the average citizen, was made fully aware of the benefits of mary jane, and how their government has been lying to them for decades, they would fight it. Subconsciously, noone likes to like a government.

Weed will never ever ever ever be legal until there is a new administration which just happen to be friendly towards it. With Bush or anyone remotely like him in power, it will never happen. At a push, maybe medically, which is good, but never completely.

I also live in Canada, have my whole life, and luckily people in my area seem to disregard marijuana. I mean if someone saw me smoking they won't get me in trouble, they'll just look disapprovingly with their evil, uneducated eyes!
