What your parents did is not right or legal.16 is old enough to be emancipated. SEE A LAWYER NO MATTER how old you are that kind of behavior is NOT ONLY WRONG but ILLEGAL. YOU ARE NOT PROPERTY! YOU ARE HUMAN. You may be making a choice they disagree with, you may be making choices that have serious legal ramifications BUT THAT IS NO REASON TO ABUSE YOU!

I left home at 15 because my alcoholic father was emotionally abusive. We did tussle occasionally and I tried to throw him out a 2nd story window. DO NOT CONTINUE TO ALLOW THE ABUSE TO CONTINUE. While you make be making a stupid choice to smoke at a very young age that is no justification for abuse. If it's not smoking they will abuse you for some thing else. Dear God Get Out!! Please, while you still have all your fingers and toes and before you learn that violence is the way to inflict your will on others. YOU ARE NOT PROPERTY, You have VALUE. If they disagree with you the correct way to resolve it is to talk, not to hit. GET OUT. Take a break. You sound like you are school age, bring your school nurse into this. Get the law involved. While this may sound stupid ( the law I mean ) a Sheriff can protect you while you collect your goods. You can be assigned to a SANE foster home, THERE ARE OPTIONS. Yes it sounds like you can make it on your own but having that safety net is very handy if you get sick. If you want to try to work it out with them get a counseler involved, some one to stop the fights before they turn violent, and a witness to the insanity.
