I find cheese graders great for grinding....no kief for you but it gets its to shake just about.

cheese graters are hard with tiny nug though, or if its exessively dank. coffee grinders obviously rule all, but i dont have one anymore and theyre not portable .

i lost my grinder 3 days ago, and you guys are making me miss it

I'm looking for a good grinder but I'm wondering....don't the holes seem big on that? I want something that can grind it down to dust for cooking, this doesn't look like it can do that, and with those large holes it looks like it just won't grind it down far enough.

That grinder sure looks nice, but is there a good grinder that can get it down to dust?

First of all, you'll want EXTREMELY dry bud. Not sticky, not damp.

The easiest way to turn it to dust is with an electric coffee bean grinder thing - but if you had a normal grinder [not kief catcher] you could get it to dust [as long as it's completely bone dry, and you dont mind grinding away for a minute or two]

But the weed being dry as a bone is the most important thing in getting it to power.

If you collected the kief you could use even less to cook with, less of the taste that some people dont like it - and if you use the same amounts as usual, you'll be hammered.

Thanks, this grinder in this thread looks pretty sweet and I'm thinking about it...even if it doesn't get it to dust I could use it for bud to pack in bowls...I think I'll stop by target and see if I can find a decent electronic grinder....most seem too big though...I'm not that rich I'd just be grinding maybe an 8th at a time not like 3 ounces lol

Yeah.. You can just turn it upside down to control the grind quality, I'm sure...

It's used to take buds or pieces of buds or clumps etc and break them into smaller pieces that are easier to handle. A finely ground bowl is a noticeably different hit, intense..

So buying one if all i use is bowls and bong is a decent investment? Does it grind up stems also?(not saying that stems wont get you high) what about the possible seed?

Yeah, it will break up stems just fine into small pieces (no need to be super gentle or worry or anything). It will break up and detach the seeds/stems for easy removal or smoking or whatever. Considering you can get decent ones with metal teeth for $10, it's a pretty good investment.
