Classic Rock?
Of the list, I would say Robin Trower is probably the most overlooked.

rock is not dead. classic rock is dead. nickelback is not at te forefront of modern rock. neither is avenged sevenfold. maybe if you spent time actually finding out about good bands and then going to their shows instead of listening to your local classic rock station ad nauseam youd know this.

Without the early guys to show the way the new guys wouldn't be where they are.

I never said to completely forget about the great bands of all time, but it's like most of you guys completely turn a different cheek to the great bands of today. I have nothing but good things to say about a lot of the classic rock, because as you said, music wouldn't be where it is today without them.

Like I said, sure it's fine to love bands of the past, but when you're living in the past, you miss what's going on right now. And clearly a lot of you really are missing it. Keep an open mind and an open heart rather than turning a blind eye is all I ask. Trust me, there ARE better things out there than a LARGE amount of the classic stuff. Then again, to each his own I suppose..
This quote (funny enough a slogan from the greatest football team Arsenal) sums everything up perfectly:
"Remember the past, but look to the future."

All well and good however if you look at the title of this thread it kinda makes the whole "but look at what's being done now" argument a bit of a moot point wouldn't you say?
The whole point of it is for those that do apprciate OLD rock acts to state thier preferences , otherwise it wouldn't have the title CLASSIC rock now would it. lol
It would probably be just "ROCK" ,,,, yeah?

Lol, yeah man, I get that...but when does a thread EVER stay completely on topic. If that's all you got as far as a rebuttal that's fine too...

The only reason I said something from the get-go was because there were people claiming modern rock is nothing like classic rock: a flat-out untrue statement. Again, just trying to shed some knowledge...
It's all good though man. Peace & love.

With Classic Rock...the message is in the music. It's as clear as a bell to me, to others it's fuzzy.
