Major crisis with lights not working

Need some help i have 1000 w mh lighting system that the balast went out im right in the middle of flowering and they are going to ship me one out today wont get it for 4 days how will that affect the plants that are in the buding stage?

If you do things properly it will not affect them at all. I would get a couple portable fluorescent lamps and throw them in there. You are not going for yield at this point, since it will no longer be optimal. You are going for the same light schedule. If you do this the plants will continue to live and not turn hermie on you. Worry about yield when the new ballast comes.

thanks opie put some lights like you said got them on same schedule here the kicker i was on the road for 3 days dont know when balast went out could be up to 3 days without light whats my chances of hermies?

Any time you stress them or change their schedule, it slightly increases the chances of hermies. Let's just hope the lights weren't off for 3 days, but even if they were you'll probably be alright as hermies are fairly rare. That makes me wonder, does anyone know of any studies or articles about the percent chance of hermies with increasing change of schedule? I tend to think, that if anything happens your plants will decide to go back to veg, then back to bloom with the old light schedule, and this may take a couple weeks out of bud development. If so, I think your plants would just take a couple weeks longer to ripen.

Why are you flowering with a Metal Halide light? You should be using HPS.

what about a 1000whps and a 400 w mh side by side in the same hood thats what i got and it's doing great
