LOL! Blink is right, think about it like this:

examples
LxW = 10ftx10ft = 100ft^2 (because it's a foot x a foot, or two feet, or feet squared)

LxWxH = 10ftx10ftx10ft = 1000ft^3 (because its a foot x a foot x a foot, or cubic feet)

Just remember, area is a plane and is flat, like the floor; area is always squared. Volume is 3-dimensional, like a whole room; volume is always cubic.
gainesvillegreen Reviewed by gainesvillegreen on . Lighting overkill? My one flower room that i am setting up is around 120sq foot, the clones/seeds/young plants veg under a 400w MH would 2 600w HPS for 120sq be over kill or just about right on? I thinking right on, but other opinions are welcome, the other flower room (for special purposes) has a 1k HPS and is about 80sq ft and they do fine in there, but again, its only a few that are "specialty" plants.
