Yes, kinda.
If someone where to develop the ability to travel faster than the speed of light, the could essentailly time travel.
For example, say your standing in your yard and you throw a ball. Then you run faster than the speed of light a few yards away. As you get there you will be able to not only catch the ball but watch yourself throw it. Because you will have beaten the light reflection of yourself to the spot. In essence you are watching the past.
The only problem is....no one can travel faster than the speed of light.

yo i read in a einstien book all about time travel that he beleives time can be 'folded'. by what he means by that i have no clue. but I'm one of the people who think anything is possible givin the right circumstances. so to say it is impossible is kinda silly to me maybe humans dont have the tech but who is to say that on the billions of planets around the billions of stars there isnt a more intelligent race that is trying to time travel that might have a better understanding of it.

another thought is that if time is jsut a dimension (the 4th) we can already travel on three of them why should we only be limited to them?

It is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light. Hell, it's impossible to travel at the speed of light. Anything going that fast MUST turn to energy. Do the math, anything faster than light is a square root of a negative, which is impossible in the real world.

I had heard on Discovery channel that science experts think it is possible, but they could only travel back in time to when the time machine was invented- no further back.

It all reminds me of a Wrinkle in Time- a tesseract. You bring two ends of a string together and it meets in the middle, like folding time, and that's how they travelled.
