since when has the constitution guarantied us the right not to be offended? on the contrary, the freedom to express views contrary to the accepted norm is one of our most cherished rights. the notion that people should be punished for their insulting attitudes or silenced when their actions are considered distasteful by any group is the wet-dream of the nouveau-left and antithetical to the core beliefs of a free nation.

My point with this article is to illustrate in combination with the other article about Marines being denied being on the street,that San Francisco values are such,that they will kow-tow to the gays and snub those who choose to protect and defend,our freedom. There are even city council members that go so far as to say that America should disband the military altogether.
though i do agree that the decision on the marine commercial was petty and short-sighted, if that is the will of the people then so be it. it is the duty of our elected officials to follow the wishes of their constituents and it would seem that the people of sf have spoken on these matters. by casting their ballots they have determined a course for their city and, should they wish a change of course, they are always free to replace their representation. i would think that your patriotic mind would revel in this example of democracy at work and see the necessity of allowing the people to decide their own fate.

It seems to me,that given all of these factors,that maybe San Francisco should secede from the Union and create their own city-state..they can rename it "Sodom".
sf has long been a mecca of counter-culture thought and the epitome of the left-coast. such communities are a much needed counterweight for the reactionary tendencies of the bible belt and similarly conservative areas. condemning her is condemning the diversity that has catapulted the us to its status as a world leader. though you may jeer at her follies, our nation would be the poorer for the loss of her rebellious spirit.
