it would seem that your faith has led you to excessive zeal in its defense.
since when has the constitution guarantied us the right not to be offended? on the contrary, the freedom to express views contrary to the accepted norm is one of our most cherished rights. the notion that people should be punished for their insulting attitudes or silenced when their actions are considered distasteful by any group is the wet-dream of the nouveau-left and antithetical to the core beliefs of a free nation.

There are even city council members that go so far as to say that America should disband the military altogether.
sf has long been a mecca of counter-culture thought and the epitome of the left-coast. such communities are a much needed counterweight for the reactionary tendencies of the bible belt and similarly conservative areas. condemning her is condemning the diversity that has catapulted the us to its status as a world leader. though you may jeer at her follies, our nation would be the poorer for the loss of her rebellious spirit. It seems to me,that given all of these factors, that maybe San Francisco should secede from the Union and create their own city-state..they can rename it "Sodom".

Everything has to be a matter of being legally "right", doesn't it? I condemn what they did in that parade, but I think it only should be socially condemned. It is not the court's place to dictate every faucet of our lives.
DannyBoy, I'm sure you mean well but seriously, this is one of the most ignorant posts I've ever read. This whole attack on Christians as the near-monopolistic holders of ignorance and suppression is rediculous. Have you read nothing about the history of other faiths? Islam easily has as coloured a history as Christianity, I'm sure the Jews' record isn't spotless, and so many polytheistic religions have done much of the same genocidal crap. Hell even Buddhist temples have warred with one another on occasion. You're singling out of Christians is based on living in a Christian society where you see it the most, don't try to tell us only Christians want to snuff out all opposition.

Some of this is the fall out from our religious screaming about allowing religion everywhere. Once you allow that you basically have to allow everything else in. So I'm all in favor of the bible thumpers pushing there agenda so others can push theres too.

I agree that we need diversity of thought and a certain degree of balance..but all Americans should be united in the fight against terrorists and the rogue regimes that produce them-especially in a time of war.

so what you are saying is that everyone has the right to disagree with you (this "you" is not the personal "you", but represents whichever group is in power at any given time) until you decide that the matter is too grave to brook any dissenting opinion. freedom to dissent can not be conditional if it is to have any meaning at all. anything less is a sham and another step along the road toward totalitarianism.

I would have to disagree with you, as I believe most of what you believe in is just another system of control, and a set of lies.

People, especially Christians, are going to acknowledge sooner or later that homosexuality isn't just restrained to the closet anymore. It's just reality. You can't stop it.
Ok, now you will have all these high school/college kids having sex with multiple partners....but homosexuality is a bigger concern? If there is anyone who Jesus condemned more, it was the adulterers.
Homosexuals can't have babies, I would be more concerned about the college kids fucking and having unwanted kids than homosexuals. They don't contribute to the population problem.

At least you acknowledge that homosexuals don't reproduce..they recruit..sadly,they're starting as early as 5 years old..usurping parental authority and discriminating against anyone of faith that believes that homosexuality is an abomination in the Eye's of God.
Yer right that homosexuals don't contribute to the population problem(there's a problem?),but they do contribute significantly in the spread of aids/hiv and all other known sexually transmitted diseases, and since their immune systems are shot, they can also be a vector for diseases that have been mostly wiped out or held at bay, till now.

militant agenda? you're letting that christian intolerance show through and allowing yourself to confuse the work of the media and the actions of few with the lifestyle of the many. yes; we've had the joys of being gay crammed down our throats by media whores hungry for the sensational and small groups of cause-head extremists, but that is no reason to condemn an entire subculture. you're beginning to remind me of my grandfather, a baptist minister whose homophobia was fed by the same overblown stereotypes that the christian right is using in their fear mongering campaigns.
