Female pistils or just new growth?

Hey gang, it's been about 3 1/2 - 4 weeks since I germinated and I am just wondering if my plant is starting to show its sex or if it's just some new growth forming. Here are the pics.

Sorry dude but those arent pistils. Give them another week. Have you put them in 12/12 yet?

no they are on 18/6 schedule, I have only been growing this plant 3 weeks. I want it to be a lot bigger before I flower with 12/12. I thought that they started showing sex while in a vegetative stage tho.

It's gonna take another few weeks for them to show sex while still in veg. It might happen sooner but usually takes about that long. You will see the pre flowers starting to form at the internodes about a week before they actually show sex. Males usually show before females as well.

^^^ Everything miley said. Males usually flower first, and it will probably take a few more weeks. When I was a n00b, I made the same mistake (but cautioned myself it was too early to show sex, so they were unlikely pistils). I am racking my brain for the correct term for what you are looking at, and for the life of me I can't think straight enough to remember the anatomical term of the structure you are looking at. I'll get back with the answer, it will come soon enough as soon as I really start my day and get in to science mode... Good luck on the baby :smokin:

Ah! I knew my brain would become semi-functional after a few doses of a light stimulant (caffeine)!!! What you are looking at are the stipules. The actual preflowers and flowers will form between the stipules and the internodes (in otherwords, look to the inside of where the stipules are growing along the internodes for your first signs of flowering). Hope that helps .
