    Outdoor to Indoor.

I have eight lovely ladies in full bloom right now in planters outside. However, between a general sense of paranoia kicking in and the weather getting colder, I think it's time to bring the girls inside.

A couple of these are about a week away from harvesting. The others have anywhere from two to three more weeks. Any suggestions for the transition? I plan on twelve hours with light and twelve in the dark, however, how much light?

Also, to all who recommended the pocket microscope, I got one today to check out the trichs. That thing rocks and only $10 at Radio Shack! All the guess work out of harvest is gone.

Any suggestions on easing the beauties into the indoors?

Never done outdoors, but you will need a hps to finish the flowering period and then it can be used for further indoor grows . If you have a greenhouse I would use that or a conservatory

You can probably even get away with CFL's as long as you are at least 60-70% through flowering. Just give them about 13/11 if you are low on light. If you have HIDs or MH, then there should be minimal, if any transition shock. Run 'em at 12/12 and reap the bounty . Just make sure they are healthy and have no major problems before the move. Get rid of any pests, fix any nute burn, etc etc... Above all, make sure your new location is STERILE! Obviously you can't scrub it down like an OR, but make sure there is no chance of mold, spidermites, etc. Best of luck!

I wouldn't bring the best plant I own back inside, too much risk of insects, that can ruin future crops ... remember, spider mites and other insects hibernate, and go thru un-detectable cycles ... I won't even bring my outdoor plant inside, for drying ... not worth the risk, in my opinion :smokin:

I debated mentioning this but decided not to. I was going to suggest your oldest plant (the one closest to harvest) be left outside, along with any others you plan to harvest in less than 2 weeks. Its your call, but I think reap is right and I should have suggested leaving at least one plant outside even if you move the others. Error in my judgement there.

Optional Advice: Take at your own risk (this is usually done only by those with experience in biological decontamination)***

If and when you move them, line the wall, floor, and overhead with foil or any other barrier material (light reflective). If you already have an indoor cab that is painted white and can withstand a disinfectant shower, skip this step. After securing the reflective layer (if one was applied) very tightly, take a pump spray bottle (like the ones sold with weed killer solutions) and fill it with 1 part bleach, 6 parts water. Mix it up, pump, and spray the hell out of your cab. Allow several hours for runoff to occur and for it to become mostly dry. Just make sure you don't contaminate your plants with the bleach (left over residue). It is is equally effective at burning the hell out of plants.

The above is the standard operating procedure for decontamination of Biosafety level 3 labs (I've done it enough times to know) and kills everything it comes in contact with for 10 minutes or more. These labs are the ones that run warm / hot strains of Anthrax, VEE (Venezuelen Equine Encephalitis), SARS, Rift Valley Fever, Yellow Fever, and many other bugs that most people don't even know exist, but can kill you dead with no effort at all. Considering that 1:6 solution will kill these things, I will personally guarantee you that if done properly, you will have no problems in the immediate future (through harvest) as long as you keep your grow cab sealed after the laydown. Happy Harvesting! :smokin:

Thanks to you all. Also, thanks to the pocket microscope of song and story, I discovered enough cloudy and slightly amber trichromes today to harvest two of the ladies.

After looking at the others, they're only about a week or so out from harvest. I thought they would be longer because some sprouted later, but not so much. I think I'll follow all the good advice and just leave them outside for now.

I have to say for me, outside was the way to go. They got leggy and weren't the biggest thing but they smell wonderful and after a dry run with a small bud in the nuke, I think we've hit the jackpot.

    Thank you all again.

you still have a couple of weeks left of good outdoors weather, dont bring them in unless you are realy scared of getting busted. a little paranoia is good, but they will make it.
