well dude it sucks, well i think your friend wont have a problem as its not claimed he was selling the stuff, if they claim that it was for his personal useage, he can claim himself an adict, and the judge will sentence him for social service, and rehab.

About you, there is a ultra stealth way to grow, but even so... i dont know whats gonna be de deal if your parents realize it... maybe they can freak out way to much, wich would be too dangerous.
Anyway here are the instructions i got them from a close friend who grew like this in a military academy. First you need only 2 things a 55 to 65 watts (spring fluro) yellowish light, and a timer. and a very small place to grow, wich means not a tall place. Cuz you are gonna try to grow horizontaly.

Set up the light system, the bulb, and the timer, and get a small medium size pot, and germinate it as always and let it grow, as soon as the plant is about to touch the bulb you got to tie the top of your plant to the floor, carefull not to brake the steam. I know this sounds crazy, and it is actually, think twice if this can get you im more problems than it can get you out...
