Are you anything like your siblings?

I have one brother and a half sister (adopted out). Well, I'm nothing like either of them.

I have never met my sister- the result of my Mother's affair with my Father's cousin George. George was sort of a blond Elvis-type worked in UDT (precursor of the SEALS), and dangerous and sexy! Well, the child was adopted out. I found her about 5 years ago. She wants nothing to do with our family- can't really blame her, we're low income, she's upper class. My impression of her is that she's a polite bitch. I send her birthday greetings, but leave her alone, otherwise. Her loss!

My brother is a skinny dude who looks like he'd be at home in the worst part of Appalachia- scraggly beard, overalls and a fantastic mind when it comes to spacial relations and math! He works in a cabinetry shop and can get more cabinets out of a pile of wood than anyone else. He is a total P.I.T.A at work (and elsewhere), but is so damn good at his job that the bosses won't fire him. He does not "suffer fools gladly", and he'll tell you EXACTLY what he thinks of you.

He is a total a-hole in some ways, but he has these iron-clad morals. He doesn't toke right now, because of his job, but he was toking before me, and I'm 4 years older. He drinks like there is no tomorrow and since he has hep C from his former hard drug use, there may be no tomorrow. He gets pain pills from his doctor for various old injuries, so he's high all the time. All of his affairs are in order- we discussed it, again, just last week- about the third time in the last ten years. I will inherit his 6.6 acres in Washington, whatever is in his bank account and his truck. Our family is fairly long lived, so I expect I will see my 80s and likely my 90s. We are realists enough to accept that he will not.

What he and I share are that iron clad morality, being the best at our jobs and a love of getting high. I imagine my successful, jet-setting, half sister shares at least some of these traits.

As for me, I'm an old hippie who ended up taking care of the "lost children" in Special Education. I am a hand quilter, who enjoys the Raiders. At work, I explain nuclear physics to a high functioning autistic second grader, who can barely write, yet can comprehend the concept of electrons, protons and neutrons. Then, I'm busy teaching a girl (13), who is like a sweet 6 year old, how to do beginning algebra, and explain the fall of the Cherokee Nation to an 8th grader who struggles with simple division. And the next day, I do it all over again since they have forgotten 3/4s of it.

A family joke is that I stole my brother's portion of patience! I am an amazingly calm and patient person and just slightly obsessive. Teachers fight for my services because I do things better than most of the aides (I turned obsessiveness into a plus!). I'm lucky, I love what I do, and it shows.

me and my brother had never been close at all, we would keep quiet about smoking and drinking and never talk about it, his first summer away from the house was last year while he was at college. This past summer he came back and the first night we sparked a spliff for the first time ever, from that first night me and my brother started comming closer, every day in the summer we atleast smoked once a day usually 2 or 3 j's a day because our parents constantly work. But now hes back to college and im back in school kinda sucks, just cant wait till he gets back in decemeber for winter break with his hydro that hes been growing at school :rastasmoke:

I was always the odd duck among the three of us girls, creative and ambitious and driven to achieve and also sort of a spazz. We three are/were uniquely different, but if I was more similar to anybody, it was my older sister, who died last year. She was a nurturer and a very gentle person (and a lot calmer than I am). My younger sister is reserved and shy and fairly self-involved. She's also not very happy in her life or her circumstances, so she's a bit of a downer. She isn't someone who's easy to be friends with, and that makes me sad. I loved and adored my older sister, and I wish I had that same sort of closeness with my younger one.

I'm not like any of my siblings. Not at all. For one, I'm the only one who smokes pot. My sibling all know I smoke, and accept it as part of who I am, but wouldn't dare partake themselves.
One of my brothers is epileptic,so he can't smoke. He is also gay, and god knows we love him, but he's a bit "emo". I'll get an e-mail from him saying something like " Oh my god, I'm so sick I'm dying!" So I call him, and he has like a cold, or a headache. He's the baby of the family. Very needy.
My one and only sister is very high strung and easily upset. She's a great sister, but I can only take her in small doses. She probably needs to smoke, but she'd probably get paranoid and freak out. End up in the ER or something.
I'm quite close to those two siblings. I see them regularly.

One brother passed away, I was nothing like him, but he was my smoking buddy, and my other brother... well he just wasn't a very nice brother. He'd sell me out for a dollar and a package of "pop rocks." I e-mail him on holidays.

By brother is totally like me. I've always thought he went his own way. But now I realize that I was always a role-model to him. I formed him soooooo much. And I feel bad, because if I knew this earlier, I think I could've made him a better person.

I guess my sister and I like to do a lot of the same stuff, but that's just cuz we grew up together. I'd say my sister and I are totally different.

My sister and I are pretty close. She doesn't interfere with my life in general, but will step in if I need to be straightened out in certain ways. And for that I love her.
