Ah a new smoker. Yes with the cig one hiters you have to break it up good. And hell yes take them seeds and stems out, seeds taste nasty as hell you would not want that shit.

This is always a must since the broken down bud burns easier giving a nicer hit, than in nugget form. Thats how it seems to me, but how fine you break it up is personally preference.
