    using seed to make more

    i only want to grow 1 plant at a time due to space issues. lol in my closet....

    I've got some seeds from a previous buy. should i use these to grow my own or should i buy some off the net?

    also i've read alot about the males and females and how you kill the males. shouldn't you wait for the males to pollinate the females then kill em? so you get females with seeds so you can make more and use them aswell. And if i grow a male, how soon can i expect to see that its a male, or from the get go?

    btw hi

    if you pollinate the females the thc percent will be alot lower than without them,thats why you clone your plants instead of pollinating

    sorry, that just isnt true, the THC content etc., doesn't suffer during seed propogation, like thought for years (but, you're right, that was the general concensus for a long time) ... it will drastically affect your yield, because you ruin so much bud getting the seeds out, but potency is the same ... my last couple crops, I grew only for seed production, and they smoked the same as their sinsemilla sisters ... cloning IS advised, it cuts your crop seasons shorter, you can grow from clones, directly into the flowering phase ... (I don't, I still vegetate for larger size, but only 4 weeks, as opposed to 8 weeks from seeds) ... hope this helps :smokin:

    sweet i c. so i should do this:

    plant the seed, see if its male, if so throw out
    plant another seed, if female, keep cutting when it gets large
    after it buds (flowers) cut off a stem, and plant in another pot.
    repeat that process?

    You will want to retrieve a cutting before flowering, actually. And when you do retrieve a cutting, you will want to dip it in rooting solution before planting, and to keep the soil lightly moist. And if you keep cutting it if it's large, expect a large sacrifice in overall yield and quality of bud.

    In general, depending on size and distance between nodes, you would want to aim to retrieve cuttings two weeks before the flowering cycle. If it is an autoflowering plant you are working with, you CAN take cuttings, but these plants are more suitable to grow straight from seed, considering they grow fast enough as it is, so pollinating of one branch would be advised.

    Read some stickys and grow logs here. You'll get your basic questions answered faster than waiting for folks to respond. When ya can't find an answer to a question, feel free to post it up.

    I'm not bustin your b@lls, just trying to tell you how to learn this stuff as fast as possible.

    thanks very helpful.

    im guessing its not a good idea to grow in a closet, since they can get very tall... i was hoping they were short plants. time to do plan b as soon as i think of it.

    if you can really only do one plant at a time, I suggest you ask around your town, try to obtain a clone ... you will grow old trying to do one plant at a time, looking for females, from a single seed ... good luck :smokin:

    If your looking at bagseed, the POTENTIAL, for male to female is as follows (this is just a guideline and not what you will experience):
    10 seeds -> 8 to germ (get that white thing growing our of the seed), 8 germ'd seeds -> 2 or 3 female.

    So basically from bagseed, you could get about a 10-30% chance of female, and you wont be able to tell until it goes into flower. When growing from seed, it should veg for somewhere around 8 weeks, but others go sooner, completely depends on when the plant is ready (read the sticky's on when to tell), thats why The_image_reaper said you would grow old. If you really want to only grow one plant (and if your first time grower, i would suggest getting more than one on this cause you WILL make mistakes and possibly kill them) is to talk to your "guy" and see if he can get you somewhere around 2-4 clones. This will give you females since the mother is female.

    Hope that helps explain a little better....

    using seed to make more

    The quick and dirty method for growing a single plant at a time (with a 90% chance of harvesting a female) from bagseed is as follows:

    Germinate 4-8 seeds, then grow them until you can sex them (you should be able to do this before they are terribly large - just keep topping / FIMing). Hack the males when you see them (probably about half, maybe a little more as I have noticed bagseed tends to produce slightly more males than females - I think it has to do with stress), and decide which females look the healthiest. I would take the best two or three females and grow them to flower. Things happen, plants die, and this way you will have a backup female (or two). If you get to the point of flowering and still have more than one plant alive, you can sacrifice any extra females as clone doners and use almost every growing tip as a clone (but leave a few tips on the doners just to allow them to perpetuate and flower so you get an idea of their quality). This will leave you with a large single female, and many small clones to keep your cycle going without affecting the yield of your primary mother plant. You will probably also want to take a few clones from your main plant, just in case it turns out to be seriously dank. Hope this helps ...
