    here are the picshttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...6/DSC01363.jpg
hoghuntr76 Reviewed by hoghuntr76 on . 3-Leaf Retarded Plant? i planted a Purple tangerine seed about 3 weeks ago and i noticed the first leaves were 3(three) round leafs and 3 regular mj leaves. i originally planted it in soil and later that day my gf put about 4 more inches of soil on top of the surface and planted her own seeds (she didnt know i was growing the pot). She planted Bachelors buttons..not sure if this has anything to do with it. i've never seen this before and i thought maybe somebody would know about this here. here are some pics: Rating: 5

I think that is what you are talking about right? instead of two new shoots coming out this plant has three.

yeah that looks like the same thing, just looks a little different because of different strain.

i think it's called whorled "polytaxy"?

do you have any idea on what strain you are growing?

    Thanks. :stoned:

I can't express how much how much I envy you! I need to move to California...

I know Purple #1 was an indica/sativa hybrid...but I'm not even sure if the original strain is still being produced. Been a while since I've looked into any seedbanks.

I'll assume that it's a female, and if so, you could be seeing some flowering pretty soon. And I'm pretty sure that it's the temperature that determines just how purple the buds will get. The plant has a genetic predisposition to produce purple flowers, but I think that the cooler the temperature is outside, the darker purple the flowers will become. This would also be assuming that you intend to let nature's photoperiod flower your plant, and won't be bringing it inside for the twelve hours of darkness.

I live in a MUCH less tolerant state, and don't know the first thing about cannabis clubs. But maybe you could try sending them an anonymous letter or email, telling them of your maladies and specific questions, and seeking expert advice from someone who's intimately familiar with the strain? That's probably what I would do.

I've heard Purple strains are pretty hardy and can grow through colder climates. What will happen if it is left outside, any yield whatsoever?

    I stand corrected, Purple#1 was a 50/50.

SO, since it will be growing in a 'cooler' climate, it could effect the color of the plant? I've also heard you can spray NOS on the plant but thats another subject.

    Thanks. :rastasmoke:

I wouldn't leave it outside. If it happened to survive the sporadic freezing nights, you're right, it probably wouldn't yield anything substantial.

From what I remember reading about a few purple strains, cooler temperatures will result in a darker purple. Potency would probably remain unaffected, but you'd most likely have a purple -er bud nonetheless.

I've heard stories of somehow supplementing plants with nitrous oxide, but I couldn't attest to anything I haven't tried. If I had a tank of NOS, I probably would be worrying too much about supplementing the plants. I'd be too busy floating on cloud #9 from doing "whippets" all the time! :upsidedow

    Update: Oct 5

Here's the update. She has some kind of growth on the 2nd node (picture below). I'm not sure whether it is just more leaf growth or if its beginning to flower. I still have it outside, debating on bringing it inside yet or not.

As you can see there are 3 new leafs that came out at the top and there are 2 leafs on each side of them. :wtf:

    WEIRD

    Thanks, imp:

[quote=Mr. Clandestine]Looks like you have a very confused indica on your hands! That's the first time I've seen leaves grow in such fashion...but apparently, it's healthy and so you shouldn't worry too much about anything at this stage.

I'm not familiar with your strain, and so can't give any tailored advice for your plants specific needs. Are you sure it was "purple tangerine", and if so, did you order the seeds from a reputable breeder? Anyway, I'm also curious to see how it turns out...so keep the pictures coming![/QUOTE

That looks like a pure Sativa not Indica. I have both of them going right now. Pure strains. That is A skunk if I have ever seen one! Very nice high. Dr. Bloor
Picture 1 should be the pure sativa picture 2 the pure indica

I'm not sure if you were talking to me or Clandestine? I'm positive my strain is Purple Tangerine, so wouldn't it be a 50/50 or a 60/40 Sativa? I can already smell it, it's starting to put off a nice heavy aroma.
