You are talking about capillary action (aka capillary motion). While it is possible that viscous or aqueous compounds may leech out in to the paper towel, I would worry more about the loss of solid compounds (i.e. the loss of trichs). Any time a bud touches a surface, resin and trichomes detach and adhere to that surface. That is a big reason why hang drying is far superior to bag drying. When hanging from the stems, nothing is touching the buds allowing them to shed trichomes.

Expecting a 70/80% loss of weight during drying puts me at about 15g and I guess im happy with this even though it is a low yield. Other plants i am growing look bigger so I'm hoping for better :).
