when I first started smoking, I was one of those annoying "I'M SO HIGH!!" guys, and it's created a reputation of a stoner. which, i'll admit, i am, but it's gotten to the point where my non-pothead friends rarely see beyond that; i'm just the guy who smokes too much pot. many of them smoke pot as well, but on an occasional basis. also, i'm almost never stoned in public, and i always get rid of all evidence i've been smoking, but people talk(even though i'm over 18 and could go to jail just for possession...) and word gets around, mostly about my long-gone irresponsible habits. i'm past the childish, clumsy naivete of the beginning stage of smoking, but the effects of it have lingered on. i stopped talking about my smoking, but that doesn't seem to matter.

i could just abandon my non-stoner friends - you know, "the only friend i need is a friend with weed", but they're my longest-known friends and it'd be too painful to just disconnect from them. i'd much rather just set my record straight and "fix" my reputation of an irresponsible drug abuser. anyone have any experience with this? thanks.
