Yep.
T-12's are the oldest and least efficient fluorescent bulbs still manufactured. You can probably get more light by putting T-8 bulbs into the same fixture.
T-3's and T-5's are the most recent technology.
High output T-5's are the most efficient fluorescent bulb made today.
CFL's are T-3's. They are made to be cheap and efficient, but are not high output.
