I was wondering if any one on here has any advice for me?
I am a "christian" as in i have tried to study the bible (i dont think any one perfects it). I do not buy into any specific denomonation, I follow the teachings of jesus the best i can. I have tried many different churches and become horrified by them all. They all seem to be spouting pro government shit and trying to get every penny out of every worshiper possible. I dunno about you dear reader but i recall jesus saying "if you want to talk to my father go into a room and shut the door", i know that aint word perfect.

I know i am rambling so ill get to the point, Does any one know of any teacher who has inspired you in the written text?. If so could you recommend some books cause i am feeling a little lost at the moment with your john hagee's and benny hinn's whoring the bible out at $19.99 a month.

perhaps you need to stop listening to other's teachings and listen to your heart....

i was in your same position.... exact same... i used to be 'christian'.... but it doesn't work for me... i eventually came to my own beliefs.. and that is of karma...

simply put, do to others as youd' have them do to you, do good out of the kindness of your heart and not 'scoring points' and it will come back to you, but do bad, and it will also come back to you, three fold....

this beleif has never failed me, nor has it proved it's self wrong.... i live my life as if i'm looking in.... i don't live my lifeon what i like or feel, i live my life on what others would want me to do.. and while that may sound bad, you're probably putting it in the wrong context....

i don't follow the crowd so to speak.. i simply treat others with respect, and never do to somebody else that i woudln't want them to do/or respect them later for doing (lets face it, sometimes in your life, when youc are about someone, you have got to do something they're not going to be happy about) later on....

but honestly, this is my life, and your life is YOUR life.... you seeem to need help for yourself and all i can think of at the momment to tell you is a quote from george carlin... "what's with this shit about self help, there's no such thing as self help, if you did it yourself, youd didn't need help, there's no such thing as self help, if you went to someone else, THAT'S HELP (may not be exactly on point but just think about it in context of what i'm saying, and not the question...)

and there is no help for you.... to listen to follow someone else's beliefs is stupid IMO, you need to follow your heart and conscience... not someone elses.... people may give advice or input on what they believe, but ultimately, you need to follow what is right for you and makes sense to you.

I would say your better off with a nondemonational church. You get a lot less of the bullshit rhetoric. I'm an athiest so I couldn't really point you in the direction of a good book. I would just read both the king james and an americanized version of the bible and maybe have a trusted friend that you could discuss the bible with. Everybody and there brother is selling some book or dvd about the bible.

I'm not much of a bookworm, but, I can get lost in a Deepak Chopra book.

Deepak Chopra - encyclopedia article about Deepak Chopra.

the gospel is good news not bad news its about jesus doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. look for books by dr. james b. richards the gospel of peace and escape from codependent christianity.

I would stay away from john hagee and benny hinn, Iam sure there must be a good local church in your area, plus the gospel of john is a good book to read, also the book of romans. Dr charles stanly of in touch minestry is a good Bible teacher, go to your local bible book and ask for his books, if you have more qustion please fill free to ask.

You just have to really ask yourself "what do I believe?". Don't convince yourself to believe something, a belief should be natural. Personally, I try to avoid beliefs. To paraphrase Chris Rock in Dogma "You should only have ideas. Wars are fought over beliefs, but ideas can be changed..."
