Maybe I misunderstood your questions, but you asked about who you should tell about growing and a bunch of people warned about not telling anyone and you just came back with justifications about why it would be OK to tell all those people you plan to tell. When the answers to your question didn't correspond with your desired outcome, you decided to ignore the advice people gave you.

Thanks sd6515, thats what I thought made it hard. Is there anything else? I won't be caring for the plants as much as my friend will, but he knows a lot more about chemistry than I do. He actually enjoys chemistry, so I hope he'll be able to pick it up quick and show me the ropes.
And yes PharmaCan, I see what you mean now. I was just asking about y'alls experience and how it went down for you(and what is best for me). Sorry if there was a misunderstanding. The 3 people that I said would know (his parents and best friend) would find out one day anyways. He has a very close relationship with his parents and they are always at his house. Same with his friend. He has always been there, always will. But yes trust me, I wish nobody knew. I wish I could grow by myself. I wish that if I had to grow with my friend we could keep it the biggest secret on earth and even keep it from his girlfriend. But thats not the case... so once again sorry for the misunderstanding. One Love

The only other real advice I could give would be to read, read, read about growing hydro especially how to identify problems and remedy them. Posting threads on here is a great help but the more you have read and understand the more that people on here are able to help. If you are like me and most on here stinkyattic will come to your rescue at least once lol. But you definately have to stay on top of all problems with hyrdo knowledge and accuracy are your best friends. I grow indoor with soil because I like the taste of buds grown in good soil and it's a much easier cheaper set up.
As long as you do things right hydro is great and a tip I know from hydro before is organic nutes give you a little more of a "safety net" to because they are less likely to burn and usually have good micro nutes.

Just wondering but, how much would a good soil setup cost? For the closet that the hydro is going in.

Look all I am saying (and I think Stinky, PC and a few others are speaking around the same issue) is: Maybe right now is *not* the best time _for you_ to start a grow. Grows should be started when you can tend to them constantly and not worry about undue risk. You mention so many possible problems and concerns, perhaps that is an indicator that you aren't in a position to grow at this point in time. For instance, you mentioned possibly not being able to care for them for (whatever reason) a period of time. You don't start grows unless you KNOW you will BE THERE and ON TIME to nurture your plants in any way they need. Growing fine herb isn't like spreading wildflower seeds along the highway and just waiting for them to bloom...

All that said, I know sometimes you just can't wait and *really really* have to grow *right now.* If you do cross that line (I never advocate any infractions against the law
), do absolutely everything in your power to limit the people "in the know" to ZERO - including yourself. I know that doesn't make sense, but what I mean is if you take the mentality that you yourself don't even "know" (think) you are growing, its harder to let it slip or for someone else to catch on to you. Basically pretend like you *aren't* growing. With any luck, you will begin to believe your own lie and others won't have anything to catch on to (notwithstanding the physical evidence). Either way, you have some other serious security issues which you can't seem to circumvent. I still say ditch your current plan (location) and pick somewhere else to grow - smaller if it has to be - but where no one will know.
Best of luck - and I hope whatever happens, if you get something started, it goes undetected and the yield is fruitful...

Yes - and this is a big reason it is (honestly) INCREDIBLY hard to *not* grow even when you know you shouldn't. I know exactly what its like. I am familiar with a grow that was hacked down halfway into veg due to detection. Luckily the parties involved were tipped off by their counter LEO network (yes I am lucky enough to "know people" who actually have the connections to stay ahead of LEO) before any raid or warrant was executed (came close though).

Unless you know the grower... In which case it is homegrown... Which brings us back around to square 1 .

Yep. Also another thing to think about, it is his apartment. It is his parents, his friend. I have nothing to worry about. Nothing I do can get us caught. However, it's his decision to let these people know, and it's also his apartment. His risk. He will be the arrested, but it wont happen. He's smart, trust me. But I understand everyone makes mistakes, especially when you're young.
