you can but it takes up more space and will produce more heat than just the bulb

that is a great deal for a cooltube,,if it comes with light and ballast,,and once properly vented..will not produce much heat at all,,actually,,you can touch the tube and it won't burn,,so imagine how close to your plants you could have it
