"Main big league dealers" do not cure properly and certainly do not have a better product, unless you are talking about pro dutch growers. "Big league dealers" in the U.S. pawn for the most part crappy brick weed and many times very seedy products (why do you think bagseed is so common?). They are in it for the money, not for a high quality product, so potency is not their primary concern - weight is. The good stuff (A's / Highs) are almost always from homegrown setups that *do* use jars or a similar method of curing.

Secondly, I would never compare a cultivator to a dealer. Those are two VERY distinct activities. The people who sell don't necessarily grow. Many times they are only the middle man. Only a very select few people both grow and sell (and these are usually the people with the premium sensi buds). You could in theory cure in paper bags, but usually bags are used for drying, not curing (and even then only when hang drying is a bad option or unadvisable). Most experienced growers around here (who I would consider EXPERTS) use the jar method of curing (Stinky, IR, etc feel free to chime in - you are the experts I am looking to ). I think it is best to stick with the expert advice, not the advice of a commercial grower (or especially dealer). Think about what you want in the end. Do you want a commercial grade product like you can buy from a dealer? Or do you want a premium product that takes care and technique like the fine strains in dutch coffee shops?

If you want bulk commercial quality (or lack thereof, IMO) - why bother even growing? You can get that from your "big league dealer," just as you said.
