personally i have found to stay away from the Miracle Grow stuff. If you have a hydro shop near by you can pick up some Bitonicare nutes. This is all personal pref tho, you can use the MG if you already have it, but make sure you do some flushing while using it to get rid of the salt build up in the medium. During the veg stage you want to give N, micro nutes, and pretty close to an even about of P, K. something in the 30-10-10 range will do just fine for you.

Keep in mind that all this is a personal pref and others will recommend different types of nutes to use, the best thing is to experiment and go with what works for you and your medium.

If you want to see what nutes i am using, you can see them in my grow log, i have put some pics of the stuff that i am using to make it easier for when you go to a hydro shop looking for it. You will hear people refer to different things like "Sweet" as an example, and i have a picture in the log of what it looks like.

As far as how often, it will depend on your medium, if your using soil you dont want that medium to get completely dry, but to keep it moist. I have always used the judgement of when you see the soil starting to pull away from the side of the pot, it is time to water...just something i do, but may not fit your grow.
