Plants looking great but is this fast growth normal

Ok so after a few problems that are now fixed my plants are shooting up like literally 3.5" a day in soil under fluorecents I have 8 plants under 6 4' cool white fluoros. I'm forced to raise the lights everyday. I'm not complaining about the fast growth because it is healthy and not stretching at all but wasn't sure if its normal 5 1/2 weeks into veg. They are really starting to stink to the main stem is sticky as hell and didn't know if that was normal either, I wasn't prepared for such a strong skunk smell so soon and in veg. They are up to 15" now and I want to flower them but my HPS hasn't come yet and don't want to under fluoros. The pics aren't that great bc my friends borrowing my camera and this is my camera phone but let me know what you think.
also would it effect yield and density if they started flowering under fluoros for a week or so they have been on 24/7 light cycle and there are no preflowers at all yet just great healthy really fast growth. since the pics are bad i only put 3 up. Respect is there if you like them lol. thanks guys.
