SCROG Questions
Well, thanks to getting totally screwed over by BG Hydro, which is another rant for another day, I ended up having to change my plans and about the only way I can see to salvage my grow is to SCROG the plants.
So I did. The only problem is, I haven't got a clue what I'm doing. :wtf:
Because of equipment delays, which dragged on one day at a time for over three weeks, I ended up with plants that went from about 10" to about 3'. So what the heck is a guy gonna do??? This is a real hearty strain of White Widow - you can cuss at it, drop kick it, leave it out in hurricanes, it just laughs and grows bigger. Anyhoo, after building the screen, I took the plants, bent the stems over about 90 degrees, placed them under the screen and spread the newly topped stems out in what seems like a logical manner.
The plants had 3-4 hours of good light last night after I got done placing them, then about four more hours of light before I looked at them this morning. There are about 40 new/nearly new tops popping out of the wire this morning (most of it was existing growth that just worked its way up to the light). I realize that, if I let these continue to grow up they'll be buds. But, at this point, do I want to let them grow up as buds or do I want to tuck them under the wire and let them grow as branches? There are still spaces under the screen that need to fill, so I'm figuring about a week or so more of veg, giving the plants time to recover from the abuse and fill in the bare spots.
Grow area is just an ich or two under 3'x6'. two cool tubes each with 400w MH's for vegging. For flowering I'll switch to HPS -one 1000w Hortilux Eye, one 400w Grolux.
Any tips, advice, links to relevant threads would be appreciated.

SCROG Questions
i am scrogging and was haveing similar thoughts....
do I keep tucking?
I kept tucking them under the screen and directing the growth to it's own hole in the screen, trying to get one "bud site" per hole.
When the creen was 3/4 full, I tripped to flower and continued tucking and directing for the first weeks or so, then let it flower..
I don't know much about different strains so you may want to just watch the growth over the first two weeks of flower. If there is still a lot of growth and you are into a 60+ day flower phase, you may want to continue tucking and directing for the first 3 weeks of flower or more. That of course depends on the available space between screen and light.
I have attached a pic of my scrog, two weeks prior to flower if I remember correctly.
I will attach some more later if you wish. i also have some very helpful scrog links, if you want.

and by the way take some time to think about drainage.
I didn't .... and I now have to use a shop vac to collect run off that ends up on the floor. I don't know what I will do when i have to flush!!!
Although my trays pull out they are a little too heavy to lift now and I have resorted to putting lasagne trays under to catch runoff and shop vac the rest..
I will SOG next time for sure.

Damn, Blink, you scrogged some monstors there.
Thanks a lot for your input. Any links you can post would be great too!
Fortunately, I planned my cab pretty well and I have a drain in the floor. Here's a link to how I built the cab if you are interested.

I spent quite a bit of time today working on the plants. By about noon all but the most crushed leaves had turned over so their up side was facing the light. I was able to see what is happening a lot more clearly so I rearranged the branches and now I probably have about 75% of the screen covered with foliage.I should probably flip the lights ASAP, but I want to give to give them at least a few days of veg to recover from the stress I just put them through. These plants are really into SM/BD and love being tied. Every little twig is struggling to get through the screen and there's lots of new growth coming from the internodes.
I've been staring at the screen and thinking about the number of buds. I'm using 1.75"x3" wire mesh and that would be right around 600 colas - way too many for my space, I would think. That would only allow a space with about a 1" diameter for each cola. I have max 24" height for the buds; at 24.5", they're touching the cool tubes. I should have enough light (+100 watts/sq.ft.) to grow some pretty good size buds, so I'm thinking a 3" diameter grow space per cola is the minimum I should have. I want to make sure the colas get lots of air. This strain loves a strong breeze. Anyway - with the 3"/cola that would give me 20 colas x 8 colas = 160 colas total. That will be very easy to accomplish. Hell, I'll be cutting colas off to thin the screen when I first start.
So, if I understand correctly, I should keep tucking until I'm at the point that I have colas ready where I need them and then let them all start growing up at the same time?

I've grown these plants before - from the same mother - so I'm pretty familiar with how they grow. It's just this switching to a SCROG at the last minute kinda took me by surprise and I had only paid passing attention to the SCROG threads I came across in the past so I was really winging it.

SCROG Questions
You are doin' fine.
Yes, keep tucking until your screen is 75% full then 12/12.
I am working in a 48" height restriction so the mmonsters only look big. They are really only approx 20" tall. Flowering NICELY though.
What's freaking me out right now is all the yellowing of the undergrowth. i keep thinking that there is some lockout going on or they are deprived of something, however I think it is just the flower stager and there is less light below the screen. Maybe keep that in mind, you will see the undergrowth die off. Get good ventilation and fans blowing not only across the tops, but the underside as well in order to avoid mould etc.
Glad to see another scrogger...

SCROG Questions
I thoroughly expect a lot of the lower leaves to die off and it doesn't concern me, as long as the overall growth continues to look healthy. Don't some scroggers clip a lot of the undergrowth at some point?
I'm totally into ventilation. Under the screen has a 12" oscillating fan; the upper area has one of those vertical oscilating fans. I'm not sure what you call them - they're about 3' tall, kinda tubular, WalMart special. The fans have their own timer so they stay on for 20 minutes after the lights go out. The cool tube fan is effectivel moving around 250cfm of fresh air into the cab.
I've got more than 75% screen coverage right now. However, on Sunday I re-potted, topped and scrogged the plants. Although they have handled that without incident, I know these plants and they are looking just the tiniest bit fatigued. So I'm going to veg for at least a week.
Did you say you have some links to some scrog logs? I'd sure like to see those.
