    ppm question

    hello people,

This is probably a dumb ass question.
    What is ppm?
I know it stands for parts per million. But does it have any relevence to the numbers on plant food ie 20-10-20 etc

In hydroponics can you just put an off the shelf nutrient like miracle grow in the water at the correct levels or must you use what to me seems complicated ferts.
Thanks for any help you can give
    Cheers

    ppm question

Miracle grow is ok but there are better one part dry nutes available. I use general hydroponics maxi grow, maxi bloom and in the final stages i add kool bloom, but if you use kool bloom be VERY careful as it is stong. If you have the extra money buy the flouralicios grow and bloom as I have had great luck using these nutes and have been growing a long time

    ppm question

    colliefish... hi : )

ppm = parts per million of total nutrients including N P K ie 20-10-20 etc...
So, it tells you the total amount of ferts but not a detailed break down... of N P K etc.

A very simple RATIO mixture of General Hydroponics mixtures is as follows

    Vegatative stage 3micro 1grow .5 bloom ratio

    Flowering/budding stage 1micro 0grow 1 bloom ratio

you will purchase this product in 3 different bottles (MICRO, GROW, BLOM)... DON'T mix the nutrients in a cup together without water...they have to be mixed in water... keeping adding this ratio to your resivore until you reach the desired PPM..

this is a very effective simple mixture that grows HUGE plants : )
